Trump and the Republican Establishment!

There is an interesting meme making its rounds on social media. It shows Republican party leadership standing at a podium with the caption “These same men who are going after Trump…sat quietly month after month and allowed Obama to do whatever he wanted.”

Though not completely accurate, there is some truth in the message. The Republican party establishment appears to have more disdain for Trump than the socialist agenda of the Democrat party.

Since Ronald Reagan’s last day in office and with the advent of political correctness, the Republican party has been more concerned with holding on to power and being perceived as nice, and as a result, they have abandoned any notion of standing true to their stated convictions.

But the Democrats, they are a different story. As Republican’s back down, the Democrats press on. And I don’t care who you are and what your political views are, you have to respect them for their tenacity.

For example, in 2009 the thousands of pages Healthcare law was unpopular with the majority of Americans, and then-Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid knew this. But they rammed it down our throat, even to the point of changing the Senate rules to a simple majority, just to get it passed.

The possibility that Democrats would lose the majority in the House, and could lose the Senate also as a result of this action, was of little concern to Pelosi and Reid. They believed it was the right thing to do and were willing to risk their seat of power.

Seriously, when have you ever seen those on the other side of the aisle willing to risk their position? Answer. Never! And they wonder why Trump now sits at the top of the ballot!

The rank and file Republican voter would like the word “conservative” to be more than a word; they want it to mean something. The current party leadership throws that word around with the same recklessness that Al Sharpton employs the word racist. And as a result, the word is devoid of all content.

I have said it in years passed, and it is worth repeating. The conservatism of the Republican party today doesn’t conserve anything. In fact, when I hear it, the definition of surrender comes to mind.

And that is what the current Republican establishment does. Either by withdraw or worse still, slow accommodation, they always acquiesce in the end to the Democrats. The progressive novelty of liberals in years past is now the adopted platform of these so-called conservatives.

They only pretend to be Republicans. They invoke the name of Ronald Reagan, but I doubt the establishment would allow him to be a part of the party today.

Like a faithful dog with a waggly tail, today’s Republican party follows its leader, the Democrats, in every non-conservative innovation that the liberal mind can conceive.

Instead of getting the message from the party faithful, the Republican establishment wants to shoot the messenger.

As the left-leaning lopsided media spreads lies and half-truths against Mr. Trump, the leadership not only stands by and does nothing, they join in.

Time for some hard truth, folks! Unless a video surfaces showing Hillary Clinton sacrificing little children on a satanic altar, the Democrats will probably win the election and the House and the Senate and the Supreme Court.

But the Republican establishment won’t care, just as long as Mr. Trump, someone who they cannot control, isn’t in the White House!

I was going to "like" this, but then saw it was sarcasm. It is in fact true.
