Anyone here know anything about the native Americans out in the Dakota's and what's going on with them.

Are you talking about the violent protest over the pipeline?

As far as I know the Indians reel their water is threatened by a pipeline project. The pipe does not cross Indian land, but is close. I don't know if their concern is valid or not. They were protesting, then broke down a chain link fence and eventually began throwing rocks at the workers. Site security (which was unarmed) responded with pepper spray. That's all I reasonably know for certain.

I'm reserving jumping to any conclusions until I get the facts (not that we can ever get the facts without spin). I see two areas of concern - the potential damage to their water supply (what are the facts there?) and the destruction of old Indian structures. Outside of that anybody can declare damn near any patch of earth as sacred to them.

The US did take the land from the Indians, before that they took it from other Indians who in turn took it from others ad infinitum. Eventually someone will take it from us. I'm not a huge fan of how Indians have been treated by the US government, but a little research of how Indians treated other Indians in similar situations would likely be an eye opener for most with kumbiya fantasies.

Yeah, BLM would be a big help by escalating the violence until people get killed and ensuring that emotions outweigh reason.

Or, they were defeated/conquered but either way, there is no going back to the way things were... And, if it is not on their land then very little they can do unless they can prove it will indeed affect their water supply.

The "we took the land from the Indians" basically pisses me off, in every war in Europe before the settlers came to the Americas the people were conquered, and then slaughtered, or enslaved.

We gave the Indians land to live on, they could no longer be nomadic, we did not try to assimilate them into our society, or slaughter them, just like La Raza thinks the western United States... we conquered Mexico all the way to Mexico City, we should have kept it and taught them to speak English.

Bad choices were made by politicians, just like are being made today.

Vote for a non-politician, and you know who that is....

We gave them land that we thought could not be lived on then found out there was gold on it so we to just try and massacre them the us government say they try and make it right but they still live on reservations and are some of the poorest in the us all I am saying if anyone has ever been done wrong it's the native Americans tribes

As a member of the Little Shell Band, I agree with Brokor. The post below is also true. I also agree that someone always takes/took everything away from someone else, always, and if they get away with it they write the history book. Heck, even Cain was PO'ed about Able and murdered him. Is any of this new? No. Will it continue? Most likely until the last human kills the other last human.

Well , we came to their country , we did not try to assimilate too their way of life .
Either way , I hope things get worked out peacefully for all involved .
Because with everything thats going on in this world , all the bad press we're getting , we've lost a lot of respect worldwide , some of our allies are turning against us . Our country is more divided now than it has been in the last 50 years . If we as a country cannot be united , then I feel we will be destined to fail .While I have the the utmost respect , and confidence in our military , I feel they are being severly restrained , and demoralized by our politicians . I'm having some serious doubts about our survival , and the future of our children .

When past wrongs are used to keep us divided, we lose.. Every country, people have done someone else wrong. But to carry that grudge and allow those same past grievances to be used as a tool by "they" that would control and manipulate us is foolish. "They" do a pretty good job of working those old scares to keep them open and thus diminishing the connections that hold our tribe, clan, group, community together..

    "They" have a goal..

    So do we!

It is a good thing the Aztecs didn't conquer the indigenous people of the land between the seas. No one would know there were indigenous people between the seas if they had.
