Hi there, wanted to introduce myself and say hi and all that. I am kemps (kind of obvious, I know...) and I am brand new to the forum. I am a 34 year old lady (just turned 34 in August), am married to the best man on the planet (no offense fellas) and have been prepping for about 3 years now (slowly but still going). My hubby and I are hoping, at some point to get some land and have our own off grid lil homestead. I've been researching areas and trying to figure out what will be best for us. We both are disabled so that will add a bit of challenge to us but we are great at making anything work. Anyways I look forward to talking to ya'll. Cheers-Kemps
Welcome to the tree! So your hubby is a professional best man? I didn't know you could get paid for that...dang. Every time I have done it on a volunteer basis it has cost me money!
Welcome @kemps Happy to have another lady join the forum. I like the optimism and cheer in your opening post. Glad you found us.
Welcome aboard kemps This life style is a Challenge, but is SO rewarding once you reach your goals! Disabled isn't a setback or a hold up, it's a different way to look at work around, and when YOU succeed you gain very insightful experience that you should share with others who may need help! THAT is what we here are all about, and me thinks you will fit in just fine! The only dumb question is the one you don't ask, we all started out with only the desire and the basics and we failed as much as we succeeded! Welcome to the monkey tree!
You nailed it completely! I can't love your post more! Thanks. @Motomom34 Thanks so much. If anything having more ladies around will (hopefully) prove the stereotype that it's all men wrong. A lot of people are shocked when I tell them that I was the one who kickstarted prepping in my family not my husband and I find that sad. Wanting to take care of your family is not a gendered thing. = D Thanks everyone for the welcomes. I've been trying to find a good community for awhile now and ya'll just seem so awesome. I look forward to learning from you and sharing what I know. = D
There it is!!! Differently Abled! I have to steal that for the wounded survivors I help out from time to time! Gotta keep up the motivation and prove it's only a hurdle when you haven't made it over it yet!
Happy to have you. Wife and I are looking to do the same. We already have property. She's disabled as well (polio at a young age) so that will need to be a consideration when we go to construct a dwelling.
