    Grease.
We all have it. We have half a dozen coffee cans full of it....bacon, mixed, etc.

Bacon renderings are used for cooking, flavoring, exclusively. Mixed grease I use to coat the barbecue grill after cleaning to season. I don't want to throw this out because I'm sure it has more uses.

What do you do with yours?

We don't save much anymore...whatever we have is usually mixed with the dog's food. With 5 dogs and only 2 people we don't have a lot of leftovers or waste. ;)

    Bacon candles, anyone?!

These are the types of things I've been thinking....candles, soaps, lamp oil perhaps?

Never really considered using it on leather. I suppose it'd work just fine, though a fella might have a time keeping the critters off of him!

Good suggestions y'all, keep 'em coming!

Not to many "Liberals" actually are adventurous enough to come this far out...So we just do NOT have enough of them to feed the Bears.... Bacon, we got LOTS of....

If you take your Bacon Grease and render it way down and filter it, you can make lots of cool stuff! Gun Lube, boot dressing, candles, lamp oils, heating oil, cooking oil. The list is actually pretty long. Get creative and you can find all sorts of stuff to use it for. Mix with olive oil and it lases much longer!

Back before the terrible floods I lost everything in, I used to add 5 to 10% to my boolit lube, just because.

We had to learn all these things in survival school in the service. Most I have tweaked to my own needs and experience!

Sure, which of many would you like? For a el cheep-o Cooking stove, take a tuna can ( save the lid) and cut strips of cardboard the same height, roll into the can until you cant get any more in, and fill with bacon grease ( best if mixed with bear fat) but any other thicker fat/grease works ( helps burn slower) and light when ready to use. the can lid can be used with a split stick as a damper, or a spatula, or a cook surface for small things! Lasts about 45 min or so, depending on the other fats you mix in if any! For boot dressing, get hot ( with out boiling) and apply to warm boot and let cool to ambient temp. Works really well if you can add bear grease to the mix! Lamp oil needs to be as clean as you can get it. Will burn hot and fast, but will work well with low soot! Run as is for bullet lube both during the reloading prosess, as well as a sealer for the loaded cartridge. For Black Powder, clean the gun tube with water and mild soap, and patch dry, use the last patch dipped in warm bacon grease and run this patch a few times! Makes a good bore butter in a pinch! For candles, mix with tallow, and bee's wax and dip your wick to build up to desired size. Add in ceder saw dust or sanding dust for bug repellent, Juniper works well if you have that in your A.O.

Thanks. I've got some playing around to do. Now I just need to find some time outside of work to do it!

That's your well known buddy burner. Here's some scoop, ignore the first post errors for now, we may be able to fix them later.
