Fiction/non? I just came from the library with a copy of Robert young Pelton's "Come back alive". he also wrote the thick "World most dangrous. places"."Come back" filled wih advice for walking into "turd-world" warzones and sucessfully drinking tea with the insurgents....he was kidnapped not too long ago but was released....
He does cover specifics... Look for it: isbn 0-385-49566-8($14.95 us)
This is very much a "live life;but realize hazards for what they are" kinda book ,I find it full of real life advice without glorifying THE one gun or technique. that'll make a life or death diference. He reads esily writes with a subtle humor ( ie. chapter8 Self defense: ( Never bring a knife to a gunfight)Chapter 16 bush eating: ( You gonna eat that or raise it as pet?)...
chapter18 Shelter: (Home is where you left your dirty underwear)...enjoying it so far.Should be reading more instead of dorking around the net...

Well, right now I'm reading "All new square foot gardening" I like the idea of having multiple crops each year (spring, summer, and fall) and growing more in less space (as I live in the city), and having fresh veggies and not worrying about what chemicals were used on them.

I just finished Into the Wild and I read Pelton's DP about a month or so ago. Enjoyed them both.

    Currently I'm reading:

    The Bible (of course)

Sources of Power, How People Make Decisions by Gary Klein

The Rise and Fall of the Great Powers Paul Kennedy

Empire by Orson Scott Card. A new American civil war between the red states and the blue states after terrorists blow up the White House. Sounded like just my cup of tea.

Too bad it was really awful. Unrealistic characters and situations. It was a great idea; too bad Card missed the opportunity to make a good book out of it.

Still haven't found a SHTF novel that can beat Lucifer's Hammer.

[winkthumb] It really, really works! You wouldn't believe just how many different vegies you can cram into a well-planned planter box.

I really like Him. Crime and Punishment and Cancer Ward are great too.

I should really take a walk around the house and get the list of what I'm reading together. I prolly have around 6 books going right now.

You sound like me M. I start three or four at a time. And read whichever one I happen to be in the mood for at the time. BTW one that I am reading now, about halfway through is "The Barbarian Way". Great read, thanks!
