Well, at least News Corp's not owned by an Australian anymore. ;)

Not sure I totally agree. I am pretty sure there are some small local radio stations around that are not owned by a large corp, in fact that's how they roll and they are proud to have not sold out. I have 2 right here in my area.

They all have to toe the line and follow all Federal regulations, or their license is pulled. Kind of tough to speak the truth and fuel a resistance when you're black-boxed into a corner. Also, the major corporations will just buy them up if they prove troublesome or profitable.

On another note, but the same subject --Corporate media. Take special notice that I said corporate.
Take each of those "companies" listed (NBC, Fox, CBS, Comcast, CNN, HBO, etc...) and all of the major corporations who own these, look them up at Dunn and Bradstreet. You will find they are each investing in other corporations themselves, and all of these corporations are intertwined with investments. Every state and federal corporation of government (and that's everything) are also invested in these corporations. You do not even need a conspiracy about "who is related to whom" to figure out where this is going. See also: "Ouroboros".

It's the sovereign citizenry vs. the corporation. That's all.

We still have a choice whether we expose ourselves to their propaganda or not.

Except for an occasional article that I read in the WSJ, and tracking the markets on CNN, I use none of those listed here as a news source or for entertainment. Therefore I avoid the constant barrage of lies which most accept as fact because of the constant repetition that establishes it as truth in the minds of those who let themselves be exposed.

These groups are fully entrenched and will not be going away anytime soon. Be careful what you let into your mind.

There is nothing the news media have to say that's worth a dime.
They stir up trouble deliberately and interfere with investigations and contribute to more trouble than they solve.

@Brokor Geez, I guess 'Lois Lerner' (IRS) must have given lessons to the FCC guys to ensure they keep the little Media guys in line. Nah, they wouldn't do that...would they?

@Legion489 One small mistake - well - the deal might not yet be complete but AT&T bought Time Warner just last week for a gazillion dollars.

I came across this recently, it's a bit old but truly defines the problem of a media that is used more and more like a propaganda machine. I remember laughing at my wife's aunt that believes everything she hears on the state run TV/Radio in her third-world country but now that I am back and again mingle with my own countrymen - well - am I no longer laughing.

My favorite example is a few years back ALL THREE PROPAGANDA SHOWS (See BS, NBC, ABC) had the exact same story (same photos, different voice over that sounded like it had been run through a machine) about a little white girl that for her birthday wanted to go to Africa and dig a well for a bunch of people too lazy to dig their own. According to the story, she got hit by a car and died right after that and the mother put it on social media and all the lib-tards sent money and they went to Africa and dug a well. OK, fine.

The NEXT story on ALL THREE PROPAGANDA SHOWS was the exact same story (same photos, different voice over that sounded like it had been run through a machine) about van ran off the road in NYC. No idea if anyone was hurt, who was in the van, or anything else, just a van ran off the road. THIS is "NEWS"?! A van ran off the road in a snow storm?!

There was a third "story" on ALL THREE PROPAGANDA SHOWS that was exactly the same (same photos, different voice over that sounded like it had been run through a machine), but can't think of it off hand. Another WHAT IS THIS DRIVEL?! story.

Anyway, ALL THREE PROPAGANDA SHOWS played these three exact same stories. same photos and words to the voice over, THREE NIGHTS RUNNING! These stories were the most important things that happened in the USSA to get on the "WORLD NEWS"?! REALLY?!

Another one I loved was the local propaganda show had a story about the Middle East fighting. They cut to the film: an old woman was screaming: "THEY ARE ANIMALS! ANIMALS! THEY SHOULD ALL BE KILLED! WIPED OFF THE EARTH!" Instantly the film was cut off and the talking head looked like he swallowed a live toad. "um....ah...er....wrong tape...(YUH THINK?!)...here is the, um, tape we, ah, meant to play..." SAME woman, SAME wrecked building behind her, sun at slightly different angles as shadows were slightly different "Oh this is so terrible! Why isn't the US sending us more money and aid? They only give us a billion dollars a year, that isn't enough! This is so horrible! Woe is me!"

Every one was asking if I taped it, but why would I tape the local propaganda shows? They are usually the same old-same-old and all I want is the weather anyway, so no, I did not tape it.

Yeah, THAT is why I don't bother with ANY of the propaganda shows.

Interestingly, Foxnews was the only cable news program that wikileaks hasn't shown being actively directed by the Clinton campaign. It only appeared there was collusion previously, now it's demonstrated fact. I get the impression that liberals don't mind being actively manipulated and fed selective "facts".

I wouldn't be so sure of that. I just watched a video with Newt and Kelly and it was definitely bias in thought and deed and certainly in print (the article). I'm friggin done with them also.

Oh, it's possible, but in the case of Fox, it's unproven. While there are actual emails going back and forth between various reporters from the other channels and the DNC, and Clinton's actual campaign. Creepy.

Legion.... Look a bit more and you may find that the TV networks running essentially the same narrative appear to actually be taking their cues from the New York Times. What the NYT deems as news earlier in the day is often what they air. I'll leave it to others as to why.

Conservatives are also prone to swallow the predigested pap that they too prefer consuming. Telling the followers of political factions on both sides of the political centre what they want to hear sells media. Confirmation bias is a reliable earner of sponsorship and circulation revenue.

I don't know that proves out in news media. In the US (I know, not your bag), "conservative" is still the highest self identifier in polling. How many news outlets are styling themselves to profit off of that confirmation bias? Precisely one. Two, if you include the Wall Street Journal. This is considered one reason that print media is failing in the US. I would disagree with that analysis, but you certainly don't have to look far in academia to find papers written on the subject.

You are probably right in so far as fiscal conservatives are concerned....however, social conservatism is a much broader church, and has many more mouthpieces than just the Wall Street Journal and similar ilk. It's probably one of the reasons that Drumpf has been suckin' up spectacularly religious conservatives. He's tellin' 'em what for they wanna hear, but not paric'larly very convincin'ly...but shoot, they don't care that he's a womanisin', bulldustin', devotee of Mammon...Drumpf's greatest quality, is that he ain't no Clinton!

I am right in precisely what I said. Go back and read it. "Conservative" is the most popular self identifier. You have literally no reason to believe social conservatives out number fiscal conservatives. It is my opinion that you're reading your own biases into what I said.
I would think that not putting a rapist in a position of great power might be something worth pursuing. It's certainly powering my voting. The Wall Street Journal is a mouthpiece of the fiscal right. Can you name the voice of the conservative right? I doubt you can because I'm unaware of it.
Additionally, I get that you have assumed yourself more intelligent than the right, those terrible provincials, but can you see that arrogance is narcissistic and rude? How would you feel if I broke into a silly sounding French accent to poke fun at your countrymen? "We can't all be zee entelllishente zat you Acadiennes are, mon frere...eh?" Food for thought.
