It's a very bloody graph pic I took while in Afghanistan. I'll post it if the mods say it's ok.
Once you see it you can't unsee it.
This is what happens when you use a 50 Cal round as a hammer, holding the round in your hand and striking the tip of a quick release pin.

We're not the squeamish type here , post away . Unless you've been told different from someone with more authority than me . And I have no authority on this forum . But I will take it in a pm or a link to the pic .

The sheeple can click on the link or not as they want. If they then whine and cry like babies that they were warned and ignored the warning, then they got what they deserved. For the rest of us, we can handle it.

I figured I would give fair warning.
On myth busters they cooked off some rounds in a fire and there was no way it could do this. I guess there is a big difference between heat cooking off the propellant and a primer fired propellant burn.

Did they save the hand? Looks like the thumb and two fingers are possible but, of course, I wouldn't know but I hope so.

Most of the muscle and tendon is gone, I'm afraid he will have to learn to use a hook.

Thinking about it, it would only be a true Darwin moment if he were killed or otherwise prevented from reproducing.

Hopefully, it was more of a teaching moment.

So let me get this straight.

He held a 50 BMG round in his hand, and used the case head (the end with the PRIMER) to strike some kind of a pointed pin or object in order to get it to move or release something? It would seem as though this individual had no idea of how ammunition works. He does now.

Reminds me of a security police man who slid across a vinyl seat wearing a nylon jacket and picked up an electronically primed 20mm.... static electricity set it off with similar results....

Yeah it was a quick release pin on the gun turret on top of a hmmwv is what I was told. I didn't see it happen.

Wife took a look at the picture and said that with out seeing the full set of X-Rays, most likely the entire hand would be lost! Depending on the Trauma center he was sent to, I can see that as likely! We both agree that there is way too much tissue damage and likely the best action would be a full amp at the wrist, instead of trying to save it!

A good reminder of what could happen when you reload, fire a weapon without checking the barrel, make sure it is 223 and not 300 blackout, etc. Those things are designed to go boom and it never is allowed to be careless. Gun safety, reloading safety, ammo handling and storage, gun maintenance, all are forever things and never can be ignored. Thanks for the reminder and I hope we can all learn from some one else mistake. I hope the Lord never hits me over the head that hard to get my attention.
