I'm gonna go with Ganado on this one, we don't know what's going to happen, so don't expect miracles from other people. It ain't January yet, we don't know what will happen between now and then. And none of this has anything to do with my everyday life. Litterbox still has to be cleaned, homefires need to be kept burning, gotta keep writing my books, and take care of my mother. None of these politicians are gonna do my chores for me or wipe my ***.

Actually going back to the 70's through 90's wont do... the changes to our schools were well under way by then... probably need to go back to maybe 1962 or even earlier... before we get away from the America is bad stuff... not sayin we need the school books from then sayin we need the Constitution, rule of law, etc back in school.
The way I see it, we have at least some hope that there will be some positive changes. That is something we have not had in a very long time now. Maybe Nationalism will no longer be considered a bad word, Maybe illegal immigration can be curbed, Perhaps the bloated Central federal government can be scaled way back, maybe just maybe the Supreme Court can be stacked with Judges that uphold the constitution rather than subvert it. Maybe my average customer will have a few more coins in their pockets in a booming economy. All Maybe but at least Trump was not a guarantee of 4-8 more years of the same Nation crippling policies and thought process that has been crushing the average person. Personally I would just be happy if the average 16-20 something year old that came and wants to work could read and follow simple instructions and as a bonus be able to do basic math. Be even more impressed if more than 1 out 200 or so of those kids spent as much time working as they do hiding and looking at their smart phones.
Oh, I'm still skeptical! And, I don't expect miracles but I do expect something, certainly not everything he said he will do because the forces of evil won't allow it, but I expect a few things to get done. And, yes, I know he will have to compromise but that is not a bad thing either... One thing we do know is he is not a political hack. I watch '13 hours' again last night and made me very happy that the election went to him.
I suspect we bought our selves 4 years to get our shit together before the next storm strikes, AND, I am betting we see some positive change from Thump, at least a little more then any one else could! I'm gonna take the high road and say, Wait and see, see if Thump is a man of his word, a man of action, or just a male version of Komrad Klinton! After all, Thump IS an unknown in the world of politics, and I suspect after a bit, he will get into the flow of things, THEN we shall see what he is made of!
OldDude is perfectly right! My Junior year in HS, 1966, saw a half dozen, real, non bathing, dope smoking, peace and love, hippies, sitting in my Sociology class! They weren't that interesting.
A few years later, and those that made it through the 70's became MY High School teachers, Ya'all know how that must have turned out!!! Much of that was found in the service too!
I'm sorry, BT, I didn't make it clear in my post! My sociology teacher, a hippy herself, was providing us with a project/discussion group of hippys! When we entered the classroom they were sitting on the floor, under the blackboard, in all their regalia! Drums, flute, psychedelic clothing and most of all, HAIR! I'm sure that that they had the greatest time, spoofing and goofin' on us! Sad to say that was the teachers first and last year at Washington high! To bad, she was a stone fox and wore the shortest skirts ever seen in academia!
What Trump does or doesn't do is irrelevant. The revolutionary act is the fact that we elected him at all. Whether that revolution continues remains to be seen.
