@Cruisin Sloth do you mind sharing your thinking on why you are converting?

Cleaner all around, no evaporation , fuel burns cleaner , stores, They Frigg with our fuel price .
100# costs me 40 Bucks .. I can store it without problems . Move it the same way .
It's still in the works but getting better , log splitters are done.
Im Diesel on tractors ,excavators ,J-fuel on airships ,so those are set , but to sink hide LPG it's weight will keep in Below if filled .
Think 100# size & YOU DO all the work to keep it cheap & unnoticed .

I have the means to convert to propane but I'm going to wait till it's actually necessary.
Rather then propane I have expectations of making methane and using that in stead.

I do it with the help of refill adapters and its working is great. Although it is illegal in my state, but still the people are doing this.

I don't think it's a problem if your filling for your self , it's when your doing it for a profit, and they're not getting tax money.

Thanks guys! You have cost me money again! I just received the adapter from Amazon and I'll be going after while to refill the 20# cylinder. I have a few empties saved as this actually was on my list to do. I like the 1# bottles for my little buddy heater rather than use a hose kit.

I used to occasionally find a cylinder with propane in it when I lived on the Yadkin River. At least one a year, never figured out how so many were dropped in the lake.

I have used old LPG bottles to suspend a floating foot valve in lakes that freeze over . It will go , float of whats approved (.Gov for taxes) , rope , LPG tank that can have water added or removed for ballast , rope to foot vavle on the drop pipe or the sub pump (sub pump is the weight ) if not the foot valve needs a weight , total length is to be less than 3 feet at lowest lake level so your always above the mud.

Filled the 4 empties I had yesterday. One leaks and I could not stop it. Left all outside and I'll check weights again today and see if anymore leaked. Tried my gas leak detector but there was so much residue it was useless. I'll keep 'ol Leaky to fill and use right away. Thanks for getting me off my tail to do something I have been wanting to do Monkeys!

I think I would have to buy $200.00 worth of caps for all my 1#'ers, so I guess I just take my chances.

A couple might save the day some time if you find out too late that some leaked. Yeah, I wouldn't cap ALL of them either, but sure do some. Cheap insurance ---

Does anyone know if the 1 lb tank refill adapters still work with the newest LNG tank valves on 20 lb tanks? I'm talking about the ones that take a "normal" right-hand thread and have a knurled fastener collar that doesn't need a wrench.

I got four, just to put on the leakers, only using 2 right now. My count is 7 one pounders and 2 torch bottles. Now I'm out of empties....Dang it.

@William Warren yes they do, the shut off float inside only shuts off the incoming propane when the bottle is upright, typically we fill the 1# cans with the 20# bottle inverted.

    I've done it, no problems.

Here's how it might look with the 20 inverted.

Just an idea, I don't particularly care for the rigid connection, but it'll work.

This is an interesting statement from that web page.
