I have not caught up on all your videos yet but I did appreciate the french drain video. I think most when building a cabin do not think of drainage.

@Tyler Danann does your cabin stay pretty warm during the extreme cold temps. Polar vortex or just when it is in the negatives?

If I have the woodstove going it stays warm and keeps warm for a while. After 4-6 hours it burns out and I have to keep the homefires burning. I could get it to go 6 - 8 hrs if I removed the internal grate and maybe longer if I covered them in ash etc.

As a backup the Mr Buddy Heater keeps the cabin from freezing while I'm gone:

    It's time for some stories!

This is Mountain Man Jim! He is quite a character who lives nearby...

    I live in a woodstove house , Heat & water , 4 Bedrooms & 2.5 Baths .
All heated every winter from a wood stove . Cook on it for warming & bread rising .
House has stagger 2x8 walls to make the walls 10" of insulation .
Outside 2X8 is not the same as the 2X6 internal wall , but share the same plates . NO noise transfer or loss of heats

Rockwool is much better than pink crap.
Build once & save all the way later or , KEEP PAYING to stay warm.
Seriously , We need windows open some times because we have too much heat.

Pink Panther is all that was available in my area, I had to go with what was there or freeze when winter hit.

    Cheers.
