Photoshopped! No broadhead, field point or other arrowhead on the arrow would make penetration such as this impossible. Nice try, however.

I beg to differ. It doesn't need a point to puncture.
Think of a 38 special wad cutter.

There are what appear to be pieces of breast plumage on the shaft!

I'd like to shaft the little pekcre head that felt that he had to harm a tiny, colorful bird! And my arrows have four razor broad heads on them!

Think of the difference between a muzzle velocity (approx 850 fps for the wadcutter) vs a high performance compound bow (approx 350 fps) and that's the arrow's initial launch speed.

True, but at virtually point blank range??? Galahs aren't the smartest of bird brains....perhaps this might be a case for Adam and Jamie to investigate and either bust or confirm....there may be a few issues with using live subjects, but I'm sure they could find a suitable testing substitute.

Quite possibly a screw in head that has departed the shaft. WIRES was the source of the pic to the ABC. They really don't need to Photoshop a pic like this up as they see plenty such things unfortunately.

I agree, but my son suggested that it's a piercing and I'm just too old to understand. Possible.

I had the opportunity to spend a few weeks partying with a bunch of Aussies from the HMAS Melbourne (their only aircraft carrier at the time) while we were all wasting taxpayer dollars at Subic Bay/Cubi Point, Philippines. I can vouch for their toughness at both drinking and fighting, but my fondest memories are of how they took care of those who could not keep up to our high standards for both: as a shore patrol truck would pass by the bar, they showed us how to toss our mates right into the bed of the truck while it was still moving...efficiently saving us all both drinking time and the need to interact with the poor grouchy souls on shore patrol. I still remember drunkenly proclaiming to the world that all Aussie sailors should be honorary US Marines. :D

Bird looks like it's on an elevated cable; no point blank range in this image. However I suppose the counter to that statement would be it was shot at point blank range and flew up to the cable. Not buying it.
