Dear Hollywood celebrities, You exist for my entertainment. Some of you are great eye candy. Some of you can deliver a line with such conviction that you bring tears to my eyes. Some of you can scare the crap out of me. Others make me laugh. But you all have one thing in common, you only have a place in my world to entertain me. That’s it. You make your living pretending to be someone else. Playing dress up like a 6 year old. You live in a make believe world in front of a camera. And often when you are away from one too. Your entire existence depends on my patronage. I’ll crank the organ grinder; you dance. I don’t really care where you stand on issues. Honestly, your stance matters far less to me than that of my neighbor. You see, you aren’t real. I turn off my TV or shut down my computer and you cease to exist in my world. Once I am done with you, I can put you back in your little box until I want you to entertain me again. I don’t care that you don't like Mr.Trump. But I bet you looked cute saying it. Get back into your bubble. I’ll let you know when I’m in the mood for something blue and shiny. And I'm also supposed to care that you will leave this great country if Trump becomes president? Ha. Please don't forget to close the door behind you. We'd like to reserve your seat for someone who loves this country and really wants to be here. Make me laugh, or cry. Scare me. But realize that the only words of yours that matter are scripted. I might agree with some of you from time to time, but it doesn’t matter. In my world, you exist solely for my entertainment.
Why limit it to Hollywood, just as true for the news media and for congress as well. They work for us not us for them.
I was hoping at least a few of them would hold to their promise and move to another nation..... get the hell out of our country.
I doubt few other countries would put up with them for very long. I couldn't agree with @Seacowboys more. Frankly, I think the tables are starting to turn on the celebrities as it has become, more and more, to be bad press for them. It seems to me that most of the loud mouth celebrities that continue to shoot off their mouths, like someone gives a spit what they say, are the ones that are washed up and want the free publicity. For example, Madonna, Rosie O'Donnell... Did George Clooney, Sean Penn, Johnny Depp shoot their mouths off this election? Nope, at least not that I heard and that's because it turned into bad press for them the last time they did. They might have opinions but the public doesn't want to hear them and their agents know this.
I have a boycott list for places I will never spend money & that includes many of these fake people because they have no morals & screw anything that walks (if it has money, fame or a job in films)....
I simply do not feed the entertainment machine these days, if I want to watch a certain movie or listen to new music, I wait till I can check the video/cd's out from my local library. I do have Amazon Prime that I watch a very limited programing from. Most stuff today is just as bad as it was 30 years ago, but with better special effects.
Even though the entertainment industry is raking in the bux, it is because of higher prices. The day is fast approaching that a movie ticket will cost too much and that is when the industry will start to feel the economic pinch. I have a list of actors and actresses that if they're in a film/movie I avoid spending ANY money on them... I have a Skystream box with Kodi on it... if I want to watch a movie they're in I use that... in the hope that it prevents them from getting any of my money to help them further their agenda... If there is a film/movie with actors I wish to support... I BUY the DVD/blueray... sometimes more then 1 copy... I vote... and I also try my best to vote with my wallet wherever and whenever I can... I also write to my pols and what not with opinions, petitions, and stances...
Good point, RC! And, this is just like professional sports which I haven't watched in years and could care less if all the teams folded, went bankrupt, because most professionals are there just for the money and most are prima donnas. And, they indeed are pricing themselves out of jobs. Television saved them but soon even that won't be enough.
Like SeaCowboys, I have often wondered what makes these HOLLYWIERD A-List types, think their Opinions are any more valid, than ANY Street Drunk, that lives under the Freeway Overpass.... I suspect most of the A-Listers with over productive Opinions, of their Own self-Worth, just like to Blow HOT Air just for the Publicity, that they can generate, to keep their Name out in the MeanStream Media....
