UncleMorgan I like peeling bananas and (occasionally) people.

    Never used them. Never will.

Their minimum housecall to "diagnose" a computer problem is $99.99. Then, if it's a hardware problem, the computer has to be taken in and charged separately for repair.

I've heard of them taking in computers and charging for the repair when the "hardware problem" was that the computer wasn't plugged in.

    The slimeballs.

I refuse to learn a NEW OS, in my Old Age... I understand Widows XP & 2000Pro, and that is all the WinDoz, I need to know... I Understang MacOS, and OSX, and a bit of UNIX... and that is enough for this Old Duffer... If I need help beyond that, I have my two Partners, to consult with, OR if a Modern WINDOZ Question comes up, I can call the Cannery IT/ Comms Guru, for help... Would NEVER trust anybody outside that small circle, with anything that has Family, or Personal Info on it, PERIOD....

This desktop I'm on the internet here at home is Windows XP, and we're on dialup. I have Windows 10 laptop(early Black Friday deal), mom has Windows 8.1 laptop. I much prefer Windows XP. I can easily find stuff when I need to. To make any changes to settings for Windows 10, it's hard to find how to do it, and sometimes they don't give you enough options to make the changes, because that's the 'improvement', you can only do what they want you to do on your own effing computer.

If I need IT help, I call my kids. They have been able to fix everything so far.

XP with internet access is a bad idea. It's not a matter of whether, but when, it will be infected with malware.
    I hate computers.

When I first retired, I was a (working) partner in a computer repair shop. As a result, I had to learn to use Windoze for the first time in my life. I learned primarily W2K Server and (grudgingly) WindowsXP, which I actually came to like after about 16 Service Packs (OK, maybe 3 or 4). By the time XP was no longer supported I was over the idea of "semi-retirement" and went back exclusively to OS X.

I do what the Macs need generally...if I don't feel like it, my old partner will do it. I taught him to speak Mac and know where the bodies are buried.

Actually I have a PC with XP in the basement that I haven't used in so long there may be rats in it.

Predictable! I never have cared for the slick sales practices used by Best Buy sales personnel; and it doesn't surprise me to learn that — the always overpriced — 'Geek Squad' goes snooping around the computers they service.

This doesn't surprise me at all. I'll bet that someday Best Buy will either outsmart themselves out of business, or else get into a no-interest government loan in order to keep themselves and their much too clever sales practices afloat.

When I bought our last TV I saved over $200 dollars by (Ready?) buying it from, of all places, Sears — Another store that is usually way too expensive!

The Time-Warner tech that installed internet for my neighbor started browsing through his drive right in front of us. I told him to stop or I would remove his fingers. He claimed that they (his company) wants them to look for kiddie porn.
No one ever works on my machines or has access to my networks unless they are really freakin' good and are experts with Routerboard OS. Then they have to plow through 2 routers to reach the computers or the server. I made the Fiber guys put their router in a cabinet on the side of the house. I won't even let them in.
