Know how you feel, one son did a tour in Iraq and then the surge in Afghanistan hit two ied's while on patrol securing the perimeter of the base, Sargent in the Marines. Another son did a tour in Afghanistan, Private in the National Guard. Was sure glad when they got home.

Great news! Always a sence of pride and accomplishment when coming home, and the pride as a parent is hard to describe! I always wondered what my Dad felt every time he came off ship, I my self felt the pride as a solder coming home to the love of my family, and now when my two sons come home, I know what it's all about! Job well done Mt. mama, and a heartfelt thanks from My self and My family to you and your son!

Hope he does not spend the next year finding sand in places he didn't know he had places!

Heck yeah, when we were leaving the sand box on my last deployment we had some indicator lights in the cockpit of our c130. You know turning it off and back on works for airplanes as well as computers! We figured it was better to break down for a day at our first overnight location then to spend another day in that camel poop-hole!

Remember without maintainers pilots are just pedestrians with cool jackets and sunglasses!

Kudos to your son & his brothers for keeping it together over there. The pride of a loved one returning from combat is a humble feeling but please keep an eye on him as he adjusts.

The same can be said for drivers for the grunts in a mechanized infantry unit.... they do like their mechanics when down range though....
