Why wonder - check out the guy web page Burningman foam board pyramid - Creative Ideas | Elkins DIY I've posted about this guy before. Busy and willing to share his stuff on line to boot
Interesting concept.....the end of the trailer closest to the bike/tractor would benefit from a triangular fairing which would reduce wind resistance...particularly in the face of a headwind....just sayin'
Balsa anyone??? I'd suggest gopherwood, but that's as rare as genuine rocking horse doo doo these days.
Problems I see are weight,up and down hills , wear and tear against breaks, chains and sprockets and one's self. rough roads, or no roads, wind and rain and snow. traffic , sharing the road with traffic may not work out most places. Ideally if your going to do any thing like that is to use the foot print of a small trailer that use for towing kids, and fold it out for use. In short haul a tent and gear in a much lower profile more secure vessel. Things to consider . tire repair. Ideally tires and axils match bike and trailer, that way only need ing one type of tire and tube. If a wheel is already built ready to go, making the swap would only take seconds . figuring on bad weather and no where safe to resort to at the moment. It happens. Years ago I built a small trailer for my son to haul junk for recycling on has bicycle .i used Moped tires and incorporated the breaks as well . we lived in the mountains so hills were a serious factor, especially going down hill with 200 extra lbs of dead weight.
Yet another reason to bug in rather than out IMO Pretty much limited to pavement or hard trails with that get up. In most SHTF situations the last thing I would do is travel roads and trails that would be functional on. May as well put a billboard on it that says "COME TAKE MY STUFF".
My only thoughts are that preSHTF, a police officer cannot stop you and demand your license in one of these. He would need probable cause in order to conduct a search as well.
Thanks for posting. One of the very few UToob vids I've watched all the way thru. Entertaining and I enjoy young folks (with some support) building something and then using it. Quite the trip by bicycle.
Commercial (Brit) product for 2200 USD. Folds for movement, I'd sure as heck want so 'electric assist' for something this heavy - (45 Kg) but it large enough to live in for a bit Unfolded, it measures 8 1/2 feet long (2.6 m) and just under 3 1/4 feet tall (99 cm).
