Yarmouth specifically. Hello everyone, I am expanding out some, I have been somewhat active on the Hoodlums forum for many years, and have written articles for the Backwoodsman, and decided to join another forum. I make and paddle canoes, hunt and fish, play outlaw woodsball/paintball with a great group of people, and generally like to make, invent and explode stuff. Big influences in my life have been Jesus, my Dad, Red Green, Ron Hood, Mors Kochanski, Dietrich Bonhoeffer and others.
Recently we've been plagued by beavers on our river, not an apple tree left on the place, (6 down). Soo, trapping may be something I foray into after this spring when I finally finish with my Doctoral thesis.

    Welcome to Survival Monkey!
Six trees lost, what a shame. I love watching beavers swim around, smacking their tails and stuff but they really are destructive. You can tear down one of their dams and they will be back the next day damming things where they choose. Good luck.

Hello and welcome! When I was a teenager I used to spend summers in Weymouth, North which is (as you know) not too far away from Yarmouth. Nice place; and I have some very pleasant memories of life along the coast and in the woods around there. (I'll bet that, other than those famous rising tides in the Bay of Fundy, things have changed a lot in the past 50 years — Huh!)

I still remember going to Halifax, one summer, in order to see Great Britain's Princess Margret, and watch her plant a tree. Don't know, 'Why'; but every now and then I'll wonder whatever happened to that tree? :p

Actually, Pleasant Valley, where I live is about a third of the way to weymouth from Yarmouth on the old road, (the 340 if you want ot use google maps or such) Yes, Weymouth is a lovely place. The Sissiboo river goes inland from there and with only 2 portages, one can cut clear across the tobiatic to the east coast!

Sloth is correct, it takes years to replace mature fruit trees. Those beavers need to be dealt with.

    Welcome from Saskatchewan.
You can kill beavers or make them move to another spot which can be done by using the sound of running water at the spot you want them to go.

But if you don't want or need to kill you can replace them . Just another option. :)
