I took a doe during doe weekend using a hammer sling bow by simply shooting sports at about 10 to 13 yards with a ziwicky broad head she went about 70 yards the arrow made it about 1/2 inch out the other side took out the lungs Copy KIMG0549. and the top back half of the heart

I am assuming a hammer-sling bow is actually some modern rendition of an atlatl?

UncleMorgan I like peeling bananas and (occasionally) people.

I'm a major fan of sling bows. I think of them as the recurve bow you can carry in your pocket.

A sling bow can be exactly as strong as any bow the user can pull, since all the power in a bow comes directly from the strength of the user, and they are much easier to build from scratch.

They make a very tidy bundle with three-piece takedown arrows, and can also shoot stones and/or slugs as an option for taking small game.

The elastic bands are reasonably inexpensive and last a good while. Carrying a spare set of bands is easy, as is installing them whenever necessary.

Anyone up for some slingshot fun is invited to watch the YouTube videos by Jorge Spave. He makes some amaazing things. I rather liked his slingshot cannon...

Looks like a well placed shot right in the heart lung area with complete penetration of the arrow, which is as good, or probably better, than any quickie build survival bow could do. I think that penetration would be equal to a well built bow in the 40lb range. Of course the slingshot is easier to carry and maneuver than a bow or crossbow, and just goes to show that a slingshot in well trained hands can be a superior hunting tool in a survival situation.

The slingshot is probably the most underrated hunting tool in a survivalists arsenal, and can be lethal on man or beast with enough practice.

    Very nice shooting Mr. Bishop!
