In New Mexico (which is part of the United states) they have introduced SB48 and HB50. It's basically universal background check, "gun show loop hole" garbage that hasn't worked any where else. If you don't live in new Mexico good for you. Unemployment is high, the schools suck and their budget is upside-down. Instead of fixing these issued they choose to focus on forcing law abiding people only to use a dealer any time a firearm is bought or sold.
We have the same pain here in Oregon and the entire West Coast for that matter. The politicians tell the voters it's about saving lives, but in reality it's about taking your rights away one grain of sand at a time. It's not going to work and they know it. When it fails they will need to restrict access by law abiding people once again and completely ignore the criminals. Wash, rinse, repeat until you can no longer protect yourself. They want you to be a subject and not a citizen. They want your education system to be broken so it can keep churning out uneducated lemmings that will do as told and vote to make government big to take care of them. Same thing here - school system is among the worst in the country and no real effort to fix it.
I live next door in Arizona, and never could understand why New Mexico is such a leftist state. It's largely rural with lots of outdoor activities such as hunting and shooting, although one town I know of has turned leftie artsy fartsty from the time I was last there. Probably a bunch of California types swamped the place.
Well it's because it is mostly the left overs from the Mexican Land Grant owners along the Rio Grande', they don't call it "New" Mexico for nuthing...I lived in Las Cruses for almost 2 years, I spent 18 months of that convincing the City Council that a wall is a wall, which the contractor had to put up, and if I wanted to put up a fence inside that wall, then I just had to follow the setbacks and code. Oh and my F250 was stolen from in from of my house, the police told me, oh you had an old Ford pickup, it's in Mexico now... like we don't check vehicles going into Mexico, or what? I would never move back, no matter how remote of an area I could find. Rancher
I for one hope NM residents are able to fight this one off. Spread the word and do what you can to educate people and get them to vote. Hope that works better there than here. Been to Albuquerque many times on business, jonseing for some Mexican food at Sadies, yummmmm...
Oh don't get me wrong the food is great, and the women are... I won't go there. The men are all related to one another, so unless you are one of them, forget it. Rancher
I spent 2 1/2 years (training) in New Mexico, and that was way too long for my tastes! I'm in a Border State and it's infected with all the crap from down there as well !!!
There is a BIG difference between Las Cruces and the northeastern part of the state where Raton is my adopted home town. I'll be retiring back there someday. I miss having NRA Whittington Center as literally my back yard. This kind of crap coming before the legislature is not unusual...and it is usually voted down. Indeed 32 of the 33 sheriffs in the state came out against this nonsense.
