That's awful expensive just to throw some #12 shot behind a bullet. A Glaser in reverse?

A man made material that is denser than lead? I have to admit curiosity.

Most likely a Tungsten alloy. Looks to be impressive, but for specialized applications. I wouldn't want to have "flak damage" penalties imposed in a self defense situation by any bystanders or hostages. I would like to see the pattern of impact at 30 feet. If it's more than 12", I won't be a subscriber for its efficacy.

Could be such an alloy, but with what? Lead is several percent denser than tungsten. Depleted uranium comes to mind, but I have to think there are, ah, "rulz" against that---

Either way, yours truly is NOT investing.

Yeah, I think the manufacturer of the ammo did not specify "density" and may have elected to use the wrong verbiage. In any case, there is a way to make a tungsten alloy far more dense than lead (up to 50% more dense). This seems to be the most likely route, but I could be wrong.

Used to use buck and ball in muzzle loaders. That was designed to kill and wound as much as you could. Not legal in "warfare" under today"s rules and in our present rule by lawyers rather than law, you would end up in court if you used them for sure. Couldn't quite figure out what they were supposed to do and why I should want to buy them.

    Solution to a non-existent problem.

For the life of me, what uses would anyone have for this?

Ouch!!! “Shock and Awe” jar – 1200 rounds – MSRP $2399
I could buy a heck of a lot more practical ammo than this offering....pass.

Just hit 'em with the actual bullet , the bird shot is just going to piss them off iffn you miss.
Plus I can see a lawyer loving the idea of someone using these in a defensive situation and shooting up a whole lot of innocents.

So, in all seriousness, why does stuff like this get "invented"? Like @Grand58742 said, solution to a non-existent problem. Is the margin for .45 ACP that small that they need a gimmick that lets them sell for $2 or $3 a round? I just don't get why some people put so much time and effort into something that frankly, isn't even that cool. Maybe that's just me.

Honestly, probably because they "can" invent it. Same thing with the G2 RIP and the famous LeMas/RBCD crap.

And as long as you have people buying it (as well as the hype without doing research) companies will keep making stuff like this.

As certified mall-ninja and liberal, I can't wait to find an entitlement program that will send me tons of this stuff to shoot out of my laser-sighted, compensated, double-barreled .45 act in the tactical thigh holster.

So after reading all of your expert replies I have begun to scratch my head. The cartridge wouldn't cause anymore legal trouble for you then anything else out there reason being is that it is commercially available. You could read up on that on your own. The other comment that made me laugh was "trying to fix a problem that doesn't exist" I will admit was funny you guys must be one of two thing a really good shot or never have shot before hahahahaha, missing is a real problem especially when your life is on the line. Or you could live in Mayberry then you would be right. It can't be more dense then lead unless what the editor was trying to say was. There actual bullet alloy is denser then conventional bullet alloy. Lastly I was surprised that the survival monkey crowd wouldn't be more receptive to the product, you guys are always speaking of risk mitigation in high stress or survival situations. This should be right up your alley. Eeek 13"@13' hahahahaha that shows me your ignorance. What is the spread of your 12 gauge at 13' hahahaha well I guess the shotgun really isn't the best for home defense as per survival monkey posters or should I say posers but probably just cheap. Hahahaha wow you guys kill me. Question has anyone other then myself ordered it and tried it? That reminds me of my 7 year old saying he hates meatballs but hasnot eaten them. You guys sound silly.

I have seen the wheel reinvented so many times but still have never seen a real improvement on round. That said, I always love playing with new cartridges but this one just doesn't catch my interest.

This is the 6th post, essentially identical to the other 5. That is a violation of the CoC item 8 and is also somewhat abrasive. You have been warned. Ban will automatically expire in a week.

I think it's fun reading material. Definitely worth the time to post about it because, if nothing else we can have a few laughs!
