BT, why are you showing us this? It can't be because you want neighbors?

Dammit BT. You have me thinking about it.

Con: Not sure I could afford to live there though.
Pro: Tough to beat the hunting / fishing.
Con: But you need to keep a 12 gauge handy for the mosquitoes.
    Pro: Possibilities for gold prospecting.
Con:Winters can be brutal, and dark.
Pro: Alaskan Resident stipend - likely to increase again under Trump perhaps?
Con: Possibility of remoteness, little interaction with other humans.
Pro: Possibility of remoteness, little interaction with other humans.

Oh what do I do? What do I do?

I do NOT know if any of these LOTS are local to me.... Haven't looked... I post these on the site, mostly for just information for those folks that might be interested... I am all for moving Alaska more to the Right, by getting Like-Minded Folks to move up here, and live...

I'd have to liquidate my assets here to be able to justify the move ,and
I would spend a year or more, traveling the state, and meeting the people, and getting a feel of the land, to decide where to settle .
I like snow county and country people.
I love being among wild life and observing their behaviors .

If I move there I'd have to feed at least one liberal who thought they were cute and cuddly to an Alaskan Brown.

Alaska Brownies do NOT really like Liberals for supper... way to salty... They would much rather have a nice tender Moose, or Deer.....

So sorry about Rosie O'Donnell and Lena Dunham. Trump is reportedly authorizing massive shipments of Little Debbie snack cakes to prevent Canadian shortages.

Well after the last 50% property tax hike on my farmland last october and the tax man coming yesterday and reassessing my out buildings and tripling my tax bill on... cabin, hog huts, barns, feed sheds, grain bin and high tunnels and greenhouses in a 30 minute visit..... I have decided to leave the sinking ship called the Peoples Republic of Illinois. As I mention Alaska to my wife as she is passing by......... "Not only NO but OH HELL NO!!!" was the response. So I guess it is going to be SE MO. :)

Sounds like the insane left in Chicago has taken over Springfield. As far as taxes go, is Illinois the new California?

The Tax man was almost Giddy as he explained that over the course of the next 5 years my farm would be assessed at around 300%-400% more than it was prior to the last assessment. Farms taxes in 2008 on my place were $68 Now they are $700 in 5 years they will be what around $2,800 based not on the land value, but on the income the land generates (More of a backdoor income tax than a property tax) They removed the 10% cap on farm assessment and state mandated that counties increase the taxes to be equal with the much more valuable Northern IL black dirt farms. IE a acre of prime farmland in Southern IL is worth about $4500 fair market value, a acres in Northern Black Dirt Country $8,000+, that does not include the 5 acre tract adjacent to the actual farm with the Cabin, outbuildings and barns at $3,123 (They decided to start taxing portable building over 99sq feet now, they went with 99 to catch all the 10x10 garden sheds) They are getting ready to vote in Springfield on raising the income tax another 33% and taxes on small business to 7% in addition to a business tax between $225-$18,000 based on payroll and or sales. Toss in all the new proposed specialty fees largely for firearms. Then the proposed increases in existing fees, like drivers licenses and plate, business licenses, permits etc. Throw in volumes of new regulations and the cost of compliance and in 5 years it is going to cost me a additional $15,000-$18,000 per year for the privilege of living and doing business in IL. I can't produce anymore and I sure can't raise my prices most of my customer base now struggles with buying food or buying gas to get to their good $10-$12 per hour job or are retired and and on fixed incomes. I really have no choice at this point but to join the exodus out of IL. Since 2011 and the big income tax increase and folks property taxes costing more than their mortgage payments per year, over 500,000 people in the $65,000-$75,000 income range have fled the state. Businesses are packing up and hauling ass to IN MO and KY left and right. We lost 11,000 manufacturing jobs in 2016 alone and created 28,000 mostly low pay service type jobs for a net gain of 17,000. The few people moving in to the state have incomes of $42,000 on average while those leaving have incomes of $70,000 on average and the people coming in amount to 38% of the people leaving. So the tax payer base is rapidly shrinking and the people not leaving are getting hit with higher and higher taxes and fees to keep Madigan his cronies pockets lined and the cadillac welfare plans paid out. I do believe IL has entered its death spiral and is heading fast to a failed State status. Oh did I mention the $111,000,000,000 BILLION State Employee Pention shortfall or Chicagos $20,000,000,000 Billion School district shortfall. Won't even get into the States total debt and deficit spending. Oh and two years without a budget now which the libs are loving as it equates to spending without budget constraints. And the State Legislature is oblivious and just keeps doing pay to play business as usual. We are making California look like a bunch of neophytes when it comes to incompetent State Government, taxes and well we all know the dead arise in Chicago to vote in every election. I am either relocating to MO or TN within the next 2 years. I would haul my ass out of here right now but logistically moving a entire farms worth of equipment, buildings, and livestock is a time consuming feat. And I have to find a farm or land for sale that meets my needs.

Looks like the left has a stranglehold. Looks like they're going to turn the place into one big government dependent welfare state, since it won't be worth the effort to have a small business or even work for a living.
