So Is there a General Rough Timetable of Events Once SHTF/TEOTWAWKI Begins (Any Books?)

Are there any books that spell out a timetable of likely events once SHTF (For the purpose of this thread meaning throughout the US not just in one area)/ TEOTWAWKI begins? IE, after 2 months there are no police, after 3 months there is no electricity, after 4 months toilets don't work, etc?

A rough likely timetable would help me in formulating plans and accumulating resources for myself. If you have any ideas, I'd welcome your input. Again I'm concerned with the entire US being affected not just one area like Katrina. Thank you for your input

Such a book would probably be of little use... and inaccurate... there are just too many variables in play...

if you think such a thing could happen then plan for it...

and plan for it with the possibility in mind that all the things you mentioned could happen in just one day...

probably wont go that way but if you are ready then things may go better for you then if you are not...

if you start now and these things happen before you are ready at least you have some of it?

Yeah but why not try to get as much info as you can. Just for being on this site a few days, I've picked up a lot of information and ideas of things I wasn't aware of. Doesn't mean I necessarily agree but the point is, at least its up to me to consider them. Yes there are variables in everything but if one knows that say within 6 months the water system will not exist, at least one can formulate plans accordingly.

There is not going to be a sigh that says This is it, Go here, Do this, Don't do that. ect......... WHEN SHTF, you need to be moving all ready. There is no way to predict any thing once THAT BALL Starts Rolling, so it's best to stay frosty and be ready to do what ever your plans may be.

Start with whatever unpleasantness happens in your area. As an instance, I live in the PNW, and we're expecting a devastating earthquake! We are as ready as can be for that event, even though we live in a medium sized city.
After you have taken care of quake, flood and whatever, you become a generalist. What gear and training/knowledge you have acquired for, in my case the earthquake, will serve multi duty for more national or global problems. Pick a problem and decide what you need to buy/make/train for/study to prepare for that eventually. Those things that you learn/bought/trained for add to your, general capabilitys and you just do it over and over.

My point was by coming here and looking about a lot of WHAT is needed is covered...

    BUT...

to my knowledge there is no dependable time table as to what will happen or when...

I don't think you can say what's going to happen at 2 months.
Maybe the first 10 days after utilities turn off as the vast majority of people run out of food and water then as hunger sets in as people come to realization that the government isn't going to come save them.
    Expect it to happen fast.

I think basically you can say, unless that is the problem itself, that the power grid and water will be running for example 3 months till there won't be the people to operate them, etc. So yes you can formulate a rough timetable. Probably the order of events won't happen that way but you can be prepared better if you know what is likely going to happen. Again I'm talking about scenarios where the entire US is affected not just certain areas.

For the obvious-impaired, TEOTWAWKI will not run on a published timetable.

However, the internet is full of wannabe bad asses who think they have it all figured out and have planned for every conceivable scenario. These forecasted scenarios, by the way, almost always involve the use of firearms and end with the wannabe badass hailed as a victorious hero.

Seriously though, there is no way you can prepare for every moment going months and months out. You can make some predictions based on your personal situation. For example, if you take prescription medications, make sure you have a supply to pull you along for a while.

Not often that I agree with Old Dude, but what he says makes a lot of sense in post #2. There ain't going to be a uniform, timetabled deconstruction of American society. Some parts of it, such as occupied by the Amish and like folk, are probably going to be relatively unfazed by lights out...at least in the early period, and probably for much longer than the super large cities like NYNY or LA, and so forth. The Amish and Mennonites already largely live back in the pre-industrial 18th/19th century milieu of their ancestors. Places like Chicago and Detroit are in some respects, already unlivable...SHTF /TEOTWAWKI is just going to accelerate the breakdown of order much faster there than in other parts of the country.

The Roman civilization didn't disintegrate overnight....it took centuries, and even then the disintegration was not uniform, and didn't happen according to some predictable timetable.

Working and planning on the basis that things will necessarily happen to some timetable that can be accurately anticipated and plotted??? You might just as well hire some well accredited seer who can reliably perform an augury for you by ferreting through pigeon guts.

Prepare for credible contingencies. Work to a modest budget, build your capacity and capabilities over time by setting your own goals and objectives. Invest, not just only in the material necessities for long term self sufficiency / self reliance (yes there is a difference Virginia), but also invest in the intangibles, such as training and education; building alliances with other like minded folk in your community; working at policies, procedures and protocols for dealing with the kind of survival issues that are more likely to occur in your AO.

Prepping is a way of life, rather than some end point where one can can sit down, say "ugh", and feel satisfied that one is ready to face the end of the world confident that survival is surely one's for the having, simply because one has earned the merit badge, with crossed tactical wheelbarrows, and (debarked) Chihuahuas rampant. :(

I live in Amish country, sandwiched between the major metro areas of Cleveland, Akron/Canton and Pittsburgh. There will be no "unfazed". Our area will be invaded because of the mostly correct perception you have of the Amish, combined with the incorrect perception of many that they are weak, passive and will not offer much in the way of resistance.

The straight answer is that there are no such books that are not formulated on an ficitional/imagined happening. As we've often noted in passing, you do your preps according to what YOU think is going to happen in YOUR AO, not someone else's, about which you can know very little if anything. What is your worst case scenario? Start there, not here in the hills. If you are looking for crystal ball readings of the future, this ain't the site; there's not a seer in the membership.

It has a lot to do with what actually caused the crisis: pandemic, economic meltdown, EMP strike (natural or manmade), little green men landing... Has a lot to do with leadership of the country. Also, what part of the country and if you are in city or rural... Again, no simple answers. You prepare the basics, get training, make allies with like minded people, and plan for the worse while hoping for the best.

I have found that one can learn a lot from apocalypse fiction writers as one can from non-fiction writers...

SHTF is already happening has been for a while, it just is not happening every place all at once. It is a fairly slow grinding shtf social and financial in nature that will trigger events or be hit with events that will compound the downward spiral. The National Debt, Deficit and unfunded obligations are epic SHTF level and have been for a while. The economy is being held together with bubble gum and baling wire and a illusion that all is good. Which for some people it is good. When there more people not working than there are working and the number of not working inches up with each passing year.......... Only a matter of time before the baling wire breaks and the bubble gum loses its stick and the illusion falls apart. I personally think too many people expect a single epic earth shattering SHTF event. When very few collapses in history has been instant and overnight. As pointed out Rome took centuries to finally collapse, others took decades or even a few generations to come to a head. My own guess would be that in 40-50 years the United States will be a much different and worse place than it is now. What that place will look like is going to depend on the events that shape it. There simply is no way to put a time table on the unpredictable. The best you can do is hope for the best and plan for the worst and always remember that Mr. Murphy is studying your plans as you make them.

Tactical wheelbarrow, hmmm, is that in camo or basic flat black? Since it's tactical I'm sure it will cost 2 or 3 times as much as the same wheelbarrow that isn't tactical.

Does it come with a bayonet attachment?
