Why do you want to survive ?

I have some good friends that simply do not wish to survive ,should there be a economic collapse ,or some earth shaking catastrophe .
Either emotionally spent or poor health they won't prep even knowing the possibility is a 9 or 10 .
No love for their children or friends to ensure their survival.
A few have guns for immediate protection, but nothing more.
Personally I plan to live and make a difference on the tables of maintaining a civil and moral code of ethics ,and teach the youth, survival the skills I have ,such as they are.

 

Good question. I don't expect to survive very long, but am making preps and will give guidance for those younger than me for their survival.

 

For me, it's genetic - for the young to survive and carry on.

But I can see for too many of the elderly - those in poor to very poor health, it would be easy to give up and keep a "red pill' at hand.

What a shame to totally give up, but that is choice I fear many will make.

I got first dibs on their gear!

 

I want to do what I can to ensure my wife, children and grand children have a chance to survive. If I can pass on my preps and the things I think I know, then I will defend them without mercy and be ready to go if that is what it takes.

 

I plan on thriveing and they will write stories about me

 

That's akin to asking what the purpose of life is , but I have never been one to just give up. Living life to its ultimate natural conclusion is my primary goal, but adding to the collective knowledge base of the human species is right up there, too! By surviving and passing along info to future generations I'll have succeeded.

Now, if we can just get this country back on the track to righteousness, I'll be even more motivated to continue

 

I have things to do and I am not a quitter.

 

I am 79 and have had a good life, but I would like to help my children and friends out if times do go to He**. Most of them are ill prepared and I can't seem to penetrate the veil of illusion cast by the MSM and our present educational and cultural systems. The weather has been all over the place and we have had a few sun rises and sun sets that convince that I would like to see a few more and I have started to get the greenhouse and garden ready and would like to see how they turn out. I am not bored with life, love my wife and children, have a good dog and a comfortable house with wood for a few years, some food put by, am in fairly good health and would like to stick around for a while. While I will not go kicking and screaming into the next part of life and firmly believe in God, I would be glad, given the right conditions, to take a few SOB's with me if it will help the family, Kind of believe in the old song, "Praise the Lord and pass the ammunition",

 

It is what I do and what I will do until I don't.

 

Life is a gift: to be enjoyed and savoured while one can, not to be surrendered easily, or cheaply...I'd like to be around for a while longer so that I can help my kin enjoy that gift, and pass it on. Prepping is all part of that project.

 

Why?
Because I'm stubborn and don't like to quit anything I start.
Because I've taken the time, effort and money to invest in my family's future safety and well being and I'll be damned if someone is going to waltz in and take it. Like @Yard Dart said, they may get it, but if I have anything to say about it they'll have to step over a hell of a pile of brass and best not grab my weapon by the barrel unless they want 3rd degree burns on their hands..

 

Almost solely for the entertainment value...........

 

I choose to survive so that I remain a pain in someones ass for a while at least.

 

grumpy at 66 and too ornery to go quietly unless the good Lord takes me in my sleep. intruders and nefarious greedy interlopers will eat dirt before I do. if we should have a major shtf nationwide event I have my naughty tyrants list for sport hunting and head taking.

I know people who have no desire to go on if life as they know it cease to exist. I had one guy say he would kill himself. Could be just talk, the will to live is stronger in most then they realize.

 

Short answer: because I don't quit. I have too many that count on me, and I'm not about to lay down now. In peaceful sleep or in a pile of hot brass, I will die as I live.

 

My own life means nothing to me, but my wife, children and grandchildren's lives mean everything to me....for them, I WILL survive and protect them, and i WILL bring the wrath of hell to anyone or anything that gets in the way
