Man crushed to death by six-tonne porn collection

Identified only as "Joji", the 50-year-old Japanese man was buried alive under his beloved X-rated content.

Whether he suffocated or suffered a heart attack remains to be established by the coroner, however it was noted that his eyes had popped out of his head.

Adding to the already horrific death, authorities did not find the man until six months after he perished in his flat in Japan.
Trying to maintain discretion, his family hired a cleaning team to remove the magazines however their efforts were flouted when images of the disheveled apartment were leaked.

The cleaner added that every surface in the apartment was covered in magazines and clippings from his favourite articles.

Missing (well, dead actually) for 6 months and no reports, nobody missed seeing this guy? Says a lot about the dude, even in Japan.....

Photos posted by cleaning crew. Could be a scene from Hoarders.

Please try to limit comments to the fact the guy was gone for 6 months and no one noticed, that's the sad part.

Being crushed by his collection of crap? Well, yeah, that part is laugh out loud funny -

Given the size of a typical Japanese apt, I'm amazed that six tonnes even fit!

Further, it seems odd that no one noticed any aromas during that time...minding your own business is one thing, but the smell of death permeates...perhaps he had some help leading to his demise?

I can think of better ways to go and I can think of worse. Guessing with a 6 ton porn collection he didn't have a lot of friends or a social life. I guess it is possible the porn collection could have covered him well enough to contain the stench of a rotting corpse.

The irony would have been, being crushed by six tons of survival preps.

Was manche als karmischen sehen, ist nur Unfall.
    :ROFLMAO:

I'm not sure if "sad" would be the appropriate description. I mean, what does love and family and friends really provide to a corpse? If his body is undetected for any length of time and nobody could smell it decomposing, I would simply call it convenient. I understand that, to the living, a dead lonely man may seem to be disheartening because most people would never want to be forgotten. This leads to the philosophy of life and its many workings and how we see ourselves and wish to leave something lasting behind (instead of a rotting corpse). I suppose this depends on one's perspective, really. To some, this life is a transitory stop before another journey begins, and it can be spent experiencing any number of things including fapping to a massive collection of pornography until you pull out the wrong magazine and get pulverized by 12,000 lbs. of it. Beats getting eaten alive by a shark, in my opinion.

True - dead is dead after all.

My thought was that he was so bereft of a social life while living, nobody missed his being gone is all. A life so alone is, to me, a sad tale.

You certainly aren't alone in this thinking. I appreciate the clarity you have given, because it grants me the opportunity to share some of my own experience, for what it may be worth.
I have lived the majority of my life alone. This is not so much a path which was taken purposefully, though I have come to embrace it more of recent. Who can say how this magnificent universe works entirely? Is this brain our own, or is it more of a conditioned organ, in this human form we seem to have grown to accept? I have lived near others, had intimate relationships, spent years in brotherhood with military personnel. Who is to say the man who died alone in his apartment didn't have many similar experiences? To say something of loneliness is sad and depressing, would be to not recognize everything which may have taken place beforehand. Throughout history, people have chosen to live a life of solitude. We can evidence this by a known such as men of faith within monasteries or women who chose the convent. My own life is dedicated to other matters, but the goal shares a similar approach. Are we truly ourselves when we are around others in societal relations? The practice of solitude and meditation clears the mind from external influences and invigorates the self as well as stimulates the imagination. A writer or artist may find such practice useful or necessary to provide inspiration, just as those of faith shut themselves away to focus on their work. Not every person may be entirely "designed" to be of the functioning mold to live the repetitious cycle, and some give of themselves willingly to the pattern of the universe. Balance, as I see it is not only an internal study of mystical proportions, but it exists in all things and through all time. My fascination with time and matter, with thought and energy, with every aspect of consciousness leaves me with little desire to carry on at playing the normal role by attempting to fit in, to go down the path so many are already traveling.

On any average day, I am in another world living out a fantasy. I can experience an entire life in an evening and play out the same story again as I choose. I can create a friend or a foe, a lover or a stranger in an infinite number of possibilities. Is any of this any less real than the worldly experiences being delivered to the mind by chemical and electrical impulse?

I think you have encapsulated the eternal existential dilemma nicely....This case study in personal indulgence would be familiar to the ancient Greek tragedians....being destroyed by the object of one's desires...(hence the ancients highly valuing the notion of "the golden mean")

I hope you aren't slipping into solipsism, @Brokor....that is a singularly solitary world!
