The CIA will be able to watch TV viewers watching them watching the CIA watching them.....it's certainly the hall of mirrors that will have everyone paranoid.

 

That's why I am an American arch conservative posing as an Australian "liberal"....who would ever guess that disguise / deception! DOH!!!!

 

I remember the good old days when your TV didn't watch you.
If you know they're watching use it to your advantage.

It sounds like a very good reason not to have a "smart" TV in the bedroom....

 

I had a smart TV in the bedroom but got a call and was told to either stay clothed, cover the screen, or remove the TV.

I just caught this on the front page of the paper this morning. It failed to mention any of that. All it said is basically "Wikileaks exposed the CIA hacking methods so now troops over seas are in danger because all the bad guys can now avoid being hacked". It never once mentioned anything about how they are continuing to invade everyone's privacy beyond acceptable measures.

Big brother needs a poke in the eye if you ask me.

 

I must admit that I am a bit confused why everyone is so stunned and surprised about this. There is nothing that says the CIA cannot develop these types of tools or any type of tools for that matter. The CIA were the ones that developed the Predator, most people think it was the Air Force but that simply is not true. It was developed and tested then handed to the Air Force for management and further development. The Air Force obviously wanted it because 1) it flies and 2) funding line. The CIA does a lot of development simply because they have the funds and a lot of these funds are not tracked and cannot be tracked by Congress.

Also, I am a little fuzzy on exactly how they are turning Smart TVs into microphones. I do understand that these televisions have speakers which are pretty much the inverse of a microphone so might be possible to reverse them but it seems to me that they would need some special circuitry for completion; however, it is highly possible given that most or all of these systems are now IC based which means software programmable - maybe. So, I am not saying it's impossible just I would like more detail on how it's done.

Anyway...I am not shock by this, not at all.

 

I have the urge to go to Best Buy hunt down that sales guy that laughed at me. Jerk made fun of me because I didn't want a Smart TV because it would watch me. People treat me like I am a nut when I say things like that but then Bingo! I was right.
