One that us always in my pocket is a 3.5" Billl Desillva stag scaled switchblade from 1489716157528308505513. 1489716235116-59689554. D2 Tools steel. It stays razer sharp, is easily one hand deployable, and can remove a splinter or a spleen.

1489716595010623448422. I wear a Puma White-Hunter in a horizontal small of the back scabbard or a favorite fighter that was made for me by a monkey.

Another that I always have in my pocket is a carbon steel stage scaled Case, identical to the one my Grandfather carried. Lost his in a fire and it took years to find another like it.

@BTPost Good guess, but no cigar; Don Lewellyn, I have three of his very fine working blades, two birders and the fighter. Ooops, forgot that I gave one of those beautiful birders to Righthand. I hate it Don is no longer able to make knives.

So i have to ask a stupid question

what purpose do switch blades serve?

I carry a couple of different pocket knives for various things but i have never understood the need for switch blades, perhaps you can enlighten me about your thinking on this? I'm just curious ....

@Ganado One hand opening. No real advantage over a spring assisted opener or a clipit, like the Spydercos. Just a personal preference. I also carry a Micro-tech Halo OTF automatic knife and there is usually an A.G. Russel Sting in my boot.

it would take some practice, i would prolly stab myself,
I sharpened my kitchen knives this weekend and was cutting sweet potato for chili, almost cut my small finger tip off... and i sharpened the darn things!

Usually any time I attempt to sharpen a knife it ends up more dull than when I started.

It sucks that, in my "State" automatic knives are illegal to carry.
My daily blade carry consist of whatever pocket knife I choose, typically a small folder. Nothing special.
If it were legal, I would carry my Emerson Gerber auto.

I, too miss Don's work. Great knives...

I usually carry a CRKT STING on my belt. I carry a Gerber Torch II as a pocket knife most times. When I feel like being a Rebel, I carry my vintage 1950's Kissing Crane Switch Blade.

In my case, Ganado, I have damaged hands and wrists so assisted opening blades are very handy for me!

I carry a Kershaw Blur Tonto, EDC. A Wilson Combat/Hogue Starlite for Sunday go to meetin'. The Wilson is a four inch blade and illegal in my area. I see it as a grey area! I have a bunch of combat, survival or hunting knives. Just a couple here.

I would carry my Gerber MK-1 but don't want to run the risk of loosing it due to some over aggressive LEO, Like SgtNambu, it's Illegal length. Ganado, I like the speed of opening a switchblade one handed, sure makes things easier.

Those are beautiful knives! They are collectors items these days! Like my old Gerber Trailmaster Bowie, above.

This is a cheap $10 spring assist I'm not afraid of loosing ..
had it a year or so now and being stainless it's not great but functional.
Torex screws hold it together ,and I have the tools for tightening . which I do need to from from time to time.
Like the switch blade , the lock is not the best ,but functional and on this one less prone to be unlocked at the wrong moment.
It's been DSCN4417.JPG a faithful tool, and I may even buy another just to have a spare .
