Forbes Fresh Wikileaks Dump Shows CIA Was Hacking iPhones A Year After Launch New Wikileaks Vault 7 Release Proves The CIA Bugs “Factory Fresh” iPhones & Other Devices FIRMWARE LEVEL! This isn't something you can get rid of with a v-scan and malwarebytes. It's a very serious sploit and loooong running vrs mac and OSX. Probably the most serious warning thread i've ever seen on this site. Should be a better created sticky somewhere @sec_monkey
How would that work for you if you were still employed for .gov and the job REQUIRED you to have a .gov issued iphone and laptop with "secure VPN" to all your work related data? This is the norm now Bruce. Emails vibrate in your pocket now for MOST non-labor jobs. Just sayn
Apples & Oranges..... The .GOV does not use iCloud.... Big Business does not use iCloud..... Mostly private parties use iCloud, and a few small businesses do... The folks aren't techie enough to run their own IT departments, or VPN Setups, so they look to outfits like Apple, MicroSquash, Google, etc.. to provide the Tech to them, as consumers... When they do, they open up their Data to the world, and that is VERY BAD FOR THEM.... and a really Dumb Idea...
It ain't easy keeping iCloud technology off of your iMac; and, worse, Apple tech support isn't always completely honest with owners who prefer NOT to have their data filtered via iCloud routes as the default mechanism. You really got 'a pay attention to Apple's System Preferences utility in order to keep iCloud programs largely inactive on your computer; AND, watch those system upgrades, as well as any phone calls and/or screen sharing you do with Apple support staff! Apple can be very sneaky. By the way, sec_monkey, thanks for this one!
some folks in gov and the private sector have used aol, yahoo plus other private companies for email plus other stuff wipe
Cloud storage, in one firm or another, is here and here to stay until technology comes crashing down. It's a fact of life for more and more people every day. And large, multimillion dollar corporations leverage public cloud all the time. OneDrive for business, and that would be only available to businesses, has multi Peta bytes of data stored in it. Rail against it, curse it, give it the stink eye or question the genetic makeup of people and companies that use it if you want and disagree with their decision till the cows come home, but leveraging the tool doesn't inherently make the user or consumer of said tools a mental deficient.
Relying on "The Cloud" for your Personal Data Storage, is just like handing over your DNA to Ancestory.com... You are trusting your Personal Data to Folks who's first Responcibility is NOT the safekeeping of your Data.... It is to generate Revenue for the Company... Do you really believe, that your Data is safe with these folks? Their track record doesn't seem to support that... I choose to keep my Personal, and Business Data, on my own Servers, and VPN, behind my own Privacy Technology, and away from the hacking Hords running rampant on the Internet...
