Slingshot info for dummies.... Or best way to Monkey around with a sling...

We seem to have many slingshot hunters and at least one master primitive hunter (@Bishop). We have many threads on different sling shot activities... But we seem to be missing an informative thread on selecting a sling shot for your bug out bag....

Many questions come to mind:

Tube or bands?
Wrist support pro's and cons
One band two bands, three bands four?
Metal, wood, plastic?
Bands to the top or side?
Do stabilizers really work?
Steel or Clay bullets?
sights (laser fiber optics, we don't need no stinking sights)?
Does size really matter? ( slingshots that is...)
Best sling for a new user
Best Hunting sling
Best way to attach bands
Sling upkeep and repair
How did bishop get so good?
and finally do you have to listen to marine music to use one...

I like flat bands because they don't stack but everyone is different and I will shoot them all flats and tubes.

As for the best slingshot there are many the best slingshot is the one you shoot the best but there are many good makers
Nathan masters of simple shot shooting sports
Bill Hays of pocket predator slingshot
Ammo marbles are my favorite but I shoot clay balls rocks hex nuts lead jaw breakers

 

Sights you can aim off the end of the fork
A beginner slingshot a natural fork is a good way to start
Size don't matter it's the bands that propeller the ammo

 

You don't have to listen to the warriors song but you must admit it's a bad ass song

How I learned to shoot I shoot every day I shoot driving I shoot and shoot and shoot some times I aim but most time I just look at the Target and shoot and hit what I am aiming at and I am not really that good i get really lucky

 

side pinch or other holds?

 

I shoot both side pinch and hammer grip all up to ones preference

I shoot both over the fork and through the fork

To tie the bands in I use a Rhine peice of band and do a wrap and tuck to hold them on the fork

 

My bands tend to last longer in an air tight bag and in a relatively coo environment.
Any thing left in the open around here get's old fast no matter what it's made of.

 

Yes heat will kill bands

 

refrigerate any spare bands and they will last longer...

 

I am a novice sling shotter (not sure if that is a word).... I got my first Bishop this year. It is a new learning experience for me so any tips, tricks that can be passed along to us newbies is appreciated.
