Often I hear that manners are lacking or today's youth has no standards. People seem to crave the past values. I am raising kids, almost done but I believe children learn from example, they look to those around them taking a piece here and there to make up who they will be. It is not just parents that form a child, it is the teachers, neighbors and relatives. Maybe a first boss or a parent of a friend. Having said that, then I think it's important to be a good person so that the kids I come into contact with may learn something. Carry it with them and help shape them into a decent being.

How many of the past values do you carry with you? The Code of Chivalry and the Code of a Warrior:

    12734181_795360860570673_2251047015752044249_n.

7~5~3 seems easy in some ways but in today's world may turn to Prozac for their state of mind. One thing about this posters is I wonder Loyalty to whom? Self, country?

The next the Code of Chivalry is wonderful. They say chivalry is dead but is it? What is realistic and what is not? I believe as a female, I can live this code also.

    Chivalry-Code-2a.

I want to ask, live this way today but also live these rules if SHTF? Chivalry had respect for authority and certain rules of combat so where is the line?

When I am in a Fight, it is always to the "Death" .... Simply stated, I Never Want the Yahoo coming back, years later with a grudge to settle, Dead men, do not carry Gudges... They are DEAD... Needless to say I do NOT get in many fights, because if I did, I would be dead, myself already, because the other guy won.... Another reason I live out here....

Fair play - avoid torture... I recall some recent wars where this was OK'd by certain government players in a country far far away in never never land.

I'll go with @Yard Dart's reply to start with and add to it.

God and Country. I'm sure @Brokor is vomiting in his mouth right now, but this was the way I was raised.

God- I'm a believer. Maybe not quite like many here, and certainly not exactly like my preacher father, but I have my beliefs.

Country- I believe I was born and live in the greatest country in the history of the world. She may be a mess and need a serious makeover, but she is still the best option on the planet. I refuse to believe that the hundreds of thousands of folks that have given everything including their lives, did so for nothing. This isn't over, and she is worth saving. Yeah, I piss and moan just like most everybody else, but I have no reservations about defending this land when the time comes, in whatever manner is required of me.
No offense to our international members, I'm sure y'all feel the same way about your country.

Family/Friends- You can't help who you are related to, but you can pick yer friends.
I have some "family" that were it ever up to me would be fed to the hogs straightaway without a second thought. Worthless Ftards need not apply, are not real family, and are not what I'm referring to below. I have a few friends that are family. I believe a man is honor bound to stand up for and with their family. It is his duty to protect and provide for that family, and it is the duty of the family to stand by and support him.

Fair Play- I try my best to treat everyone I come in contact with fairly and with courtesy-until I'm not treated the same in return.

Fighting Fair- I used to believe in this, but getting your ass kicked hurts, and my ass is getting old. Don't get me wrong, I've not been in a physical conflict in quite some time. But when I last was, I struck without warning or posturing. I "won".
PSHTF I don't think we will have many luxuries. One of those we must forego may well be Fair Play. The goal is survival for your family and yourself. If that means striking first, so be it. I have no plans for world domination or for hunting trouble. I just wish to be left alone to weather out whatever SHTF event comes along the best we can. But when that trouble comes I will do my dead level best and use any means to eliminate it.

    Avoid Cheating-See Above

Avoid Torture-Again, I have no intention of breaking out Grandma's crank telephone just for fun, but if I need information that pertains to the safety and well being of my family and someone refuses to provide it? Bet yer ass I'll employ some of the interrogative techniques that my father told me about from his tours in SE Asia. I have zero issues with that.

Charity-will be scarce at best PSHTF. At least around here. Sounds shitty, but again, my duty is to my family not to the one whose head chose not to prepare and as a result they are all walking down the county road with nothing but the clothes on their backs. It's sad, but not my problem.

    I'm a pragmatist.

on a day to day basis I believe in treating others with respect and respect looks different to different people.

In a survival situation I'm going for the throat. Take no prisoners

    Fixed it for you.

    Chivalry-Code-3a.

Me? I'm a simple man. I like beer, br- I mean women, and big guns. This experience is my own, even if we do share a higher consciousness. As long as I cause no harm to you or any others, don't bother me with your irrelevant concerns and mimetic regurgitation. Perhaps one day, if you dare to go beyond the borders of constraint which has been laid to discipline and control you, maybe you can find my footprints and eventually see me standing on a beach with my toes in the sand and my mind a thousand light years away, shining brilliantly, reminding us to forget conformity and to instead, remember.

But who's definition of 'country'? What does it mean to be loyal to your country? What if you don't like your current president? What if decisions/laws/policies are made that are completely legal but you don't agree with them? Who decides what "interpretation" is the right one? During your civil war tens of thousand of people all thought they were being loyal to their country. What happens if really heavy restrictions to gun ownership are enacted and over time your Supreme Court eventually rules the restrictions to be legal and constitutional? I pick this point because it tends to be one close to the heart of many US citizens on this site. Suddenly you may be faced with a loyalty question. You may not agree with or support something that has been judged to be right or legal. Are you now going to be loyal to your country or are you going to decide that those others are wrong and your interpretation of the situation is right? Do you have the gumption to be willing to die or to actually die defending a belief that you find completely abhorrent? How far does your loyalty to country actually go?

A man has to walk his own path..... we each have our own choices to make.... and you live and die by those choices.

This is my country, if you don't like it GTFO IMO...... she needs patriots that fight for our constitutional rights....not folks crying "not my president"........

That's the point to my question. Being a non-US citizen I find this statement and thousands of others just like it very fascinating.
If all of the legal processes are done and your constitution changes do you accept it readily? If there is something you think is bad that gets changed to something you feel is better, you're quite happy and vocal and defend the change. But shouldn't it work the other way too? When you're in the mainstream it's easy to look at those on the fringe as wackos but what happens if you find yourself outside of the mainstream?

There's no right or wrong answer, I just find the concept quite fascinating as an outsider looking in. The "not my president" cry you referred to is an excellent example.

@Brokor how can you wipe out protect innocents? IMO that means children. I am sure that will be my downfall but children are the future and shouldn't we be protecting the future? Where do you find these odd videos? The more I watch of the video the more it makes sense.

You whole post ask some very good questions. I have often heard that soldiers may have initially signed up to fight for their country but they end up serving for their "brothers". An oath is taken but what if those you take that for have turned their back on you and your comrades?
Exactly! The code of chivalry is a code of the past but those in that time, had to answer these questions also.

It doesn't say "children". It's a matter of perspective. Let's say it does mean children, however. If we were to assume life follows the path currently being traveled, and children were to grow up to be products of corporate government, would you not then only be protecting the continuation of your own enslavement? There comes a point at which we should ask what we are defending and why. Naturally, we are accustomed to believing any child would be innocent by default, but I am talking about what is at the core of this philosophical dilemma. On the greater scheme, why fight at all? If we are to conclude that innocence is abandoned at some point, what age would it be? Would it be 11 years, or 14? Perhaps it is 18 then? And what is the worth of innocence if this is the value we hold for those who are no longer of valid age? You see, I opted out simply because it's a false dichotomy; every life is innocent in some manner. To assume that one half being aged and not innocent is to also conclude we hold prejudice. All life is sacred, all life is innocent, or none at all. Therefore, since I can see horror, greed, genocide and every other negative aspect in the world, what does this say about innocence? To you it may say that children are too young and haven't been corrupted, but the only support you have in the argument is time, and with time, the innocence will fade and we are left with an enemy unworthy of being protected. Since time is the real enemy in this experience, I found it to be notable to simply draw a line through "protecting the innocent", because it's not the root object and is merely a talking point of virtue to make one feel good.
The rabbit hole is quite deep.
