Instead of letting @Airtime 's robbery thread get derailed about political posts I thought a separate thread would be better.

@Salted Weapon just like @Minuteman said, every election starts multiple political posts here and along with the bullshit ones there are factual ones. We all know that posting here is preaching to the choir, but the true info presented here is what should be sent to people we know that don't get it (sheeple) and people on the fence.

2008 we did not know how bad the POS was going to be. 2012 we knew he was a POS but with the NWO running the elections we were screwed. 2016 is not an election at this point and is instead a crisis if Hitlery gets in. I don't need to tell you all what to do as far as prepping goes if she gets in, your family and friends will need your advice.

We have had many discussions over the years about whether or not to limit posts that were not survival related. But for me I don't see a distinction. The future of the country, whether in the political landscape or the financial or world events, it all effects us and our ability to prepare for any eventuality. Even the henny penny, conspiracy theory posts have value in that if nothing else they make one think about what ifs. Anything that could directly effect you, in new laws passed, in money restrictions, in possible foreign wars, loss of privacy, even space aliens, all of that directly effects your survival and your prepper needs and philosophy.
Not everyone is prepping for the same things. I myself got into prepping from my reading of prophetic scripture and the possibility of living in a cashless society ruled by an anti-Christ.
So it is virtually impossible to separate current events from survival info.

UncleMorgan I like peeling bananas and (occasionally) people.

In the final analysis, we should all be prepping for the survival of our children and our children's children because we have no genetic future without them.

That means that over time politics is every bit as important as beans and band-aids because we are social animals and whoever controls our society--and how they control it--often determines who lives and who dies.

Or at the very least who suffers and who prospers.

And it's only by paying close attention to politics that we even hope to avoid the problems created by our rogue government, whether it's civil problems like unrestricted immigration or military ones like war-for-profit.

IMO if one is not saturated with the constant barrage of news, election garbage and tin foil, one is able to think more clearly. I think too much news effects your mood. It is depressing and makes one want to throw in the towel. I first started out as a prepper, thinking doom is going to happen tomorrow. I find that I often slip back into that way of thinking, especially lately with all the negative threads. I find that I am happier, more productive when I just work towards my goal of learning how to be more self reliant. My dream is be a homesteader. Sad that the green room is is quiet, or that the back to the basics is not hopping with new ideas plus exchange of info.

It is all of our duty. If you want more discussion on skills, survival, prepping whatever then we as members need to inspire and help promote it. I have only been staff for under a year and one thing I always throw out into staff meetings is that we have amazing members who will step up and solve things themselves. The members drive the site and everyone on the monkey wants the best for this site. From the oldest member, staff and the newest we all want SM to be the best and we care.

My 2 cents is this... Politics, like it or not, is part of surviving in the 21st century. Yes, you have to sift through the dribble and drabble to get to the facts but facts can be the difference between life and death. It's that important. Now, this election, is crucial for the coming years and I frankly see it as a life and death issue. Why? Because I do not believe I will be able to stay out of trouble because it will arrive at my door step...so I need to know when it will show up (I need that fact) so I can prep for it so I do my best to stay informed.

Now, having said all this, like @Motomom34 , I don't watch news on the television (no cable and no antenna) and I don't listen to the radio because of too many commercials. I get my news off the internet about 2x a day (morning and evening) and that's a big enough dose of depression for me, thank you. But, I think all the posts concerning Hillary's past is wasted because I have heard it enough times to pretty much commit it to memory; frankly, I don't read them anymore. What I am interested in is new news concerning her and/or her associates and/or a tidbit that didn't make the major news networks. And, in that regard, I think the Political posts should continue. Bandit - out.

I don't care for inaccurate political info. And I don't care for the instant 'hate language' embedded in modern media. The sensationalism of name calling and sensational headlines gets people's attention but leaves no room for discussion. We have some who are so deeply embedded in the drift that they can't tell reality from fiction. I think its a good idea to check out what you post to see if its accurate. Most of the membership doesn't see these because we have good mods who remove posts that are out an out propaganda with no supportable data. (aka lies)

I also get tired of the American centric version of the world, but I can, and do, go elsewhere to get a broader view. Like it or not, America isn't the center of the world anymore. We are starting to see it in our economy (start watching and tracking prices of groceries, these are increasing even though fuel is decreasing) Its a grocery prices are a good item to track, we use them everyday and you can watch how rapidly they increase. Wondering why they are increacsing when gas is decreasing is a good question to ponder, this can lead to looking at bigger pictures. (hint: look at global shipping, the Baltic Dry Index is one indicator)

Consider that just because someone doesn't agree with you, that doesn't instantly make them 'the enemy' or 'a liberal' or whatever other name calling you do. Consider that if two people disagree, they merely have different view points and a good discussion might resolve that difference or make your view point more cohesive.

This is so true. We are not the center of the world but most cannot see beyond our borders or even crave to. Look at all the countries in Europe that are running on wind and solar. I find it fascinating but America is demanding their coal and won't budge. There are so many simplistic things we could learn by looking at other countries, their customs and lifestyle. We in American have to prep because we have shunned the old ways. We forgot so much of the old that we are learning things that could have been passed down.

I get called a liberal all the time because I am more central to social issues. As I say, we agree there is an issue, we just take a different path on how to find the solution. Personally I would love to have a good discussion on how to solve illegal immigration problem. A real in-depth, look at all aspects brain storm.

I started the daily rant thread years ago because there were stories that I heard but IMO were not worth a whole thread. That thread is always open to receiving new stories that turn into your daily rant.

You start with a cage containing four monkeys, and inside the cage you hang a banana on a string, and then you place a set of stairs under the banana.

Before long a monkey will go to the stairs and climb toward the banana.

You then spray ALL the monkeys with cold water After a while, another monkey makes an attempt. As soon as he touches the stairs, you spray ALL the monkeys with cold water.

Pretty soon, when another monkey tries to climb the stairs, the other monkeys will try to prevent it.

Now, put away the cold water. Remove one monkey from the cage and replace it with a new monkey. The new monkey sees the banana and attempts to climb the stairs. To his shock, ALL of the other monkeys beat the devil out of him. After another attempt and attack, he knows that if he tries to climb the stairs he will be assaulted.

Next, remove another of the original four monkeys, replacing it with a new monkey. The newcomer goes to the stairs and is attacked. The previous newcomer takes part in the punishment - with enthusiasm - because he is now part of the "team."

Then, replace a third original monkey with a new monkey, followed by the fourth. Every time the newest monkey takes to the stairs, he is attacked.

Now, the monkeys that are beating him up have no idea why they were not permitted to climb the stairs.

Neither do they know why they are participating in the beating of the newest monkey Having replaced all of the original monkeys, none of the remaining monkeys will have ever been sprayed with cold water.

Nevertheless, not one of the monkeys will try to climb the stairway for the Banana.

Why, you ask? Because in their minds, that is the way it has always been!

This is how today's House and Senate operates, and this Is why from time to time, ALL of the monkeys need to be REPLACED AT THE SAME TIME!

This is meant as no disrespect to monkeys
