So you are preparing to survive the SHTF, or what have you. When do you relax and sit on the beach to relax. When do you have enough, when do you acknowledge that you are prepared enough for what you perceive as the ultimate goal? My tribe never relaxes and is always looking forward to the next score, be it weapons at a discount, ammo on sale or food at a great value......

When do you meet your goals?

Never stops @Yard Dart. I am always redo, tweaking and reorganizing. As for relaxing, relaxing maybe but my mind does not stop. When I am in a store or driving 50 miles away, I am always thinking looking and gathering info. What if.... how would I..... Is this safe etc...

It's tough for me to think in "civilian" terms. I really have no idea what it's like to live in condition white.
In fact I'm about to start hardening up, I've let my age be an excuse to be lazy.

There is many a time that we think we are ready for what may come... and then we evaluate and step back... and continue to drive on with what we perceive to be in our best interest.

Exactly what I need to be doing. Fell four trees in the yard yesterday, limbed them out and cut them into 14" lengths. Today, I can hardly move. I am way out of shape...

No never ready but ahead of the crowd. Because I am a few steps ahead and know what could happen and how fast, it gives me the advantage IMO.

It's simple really...just relax in between various tasks. Sitting on a beach getting a flesh eating bacteria or watching a shark play in tidal pools? Got better things to do, like finding something useful in an antique market, or tending the garden. Perhaps visiting a museum...

Adult education is another worthy item...knowledge is power, can't be taken from you and just might provide some useful thoughts later down the road...or relax in class (sans snoring, of course) :)

Prepared enough? Is there truly such a thing?

EVERY chance I get, sometimes I even take Sass along..;)

Look, this lifestyle of prepping-and that's what it should be, a lifestyle will go on until I pass on. We are always looking for ways to improve and add to our stocks. That being said if a person does this 24/7 never looking up from the row, just plodding along, WTF is the point? A person and esp a couple/family NEED to take a week off from everyday life now and again and that means from the prepping too. Leave it all behind and head to the woods, beach where ever and recharge. That doesn't mean be a sheep, it just means go live life a bit. Grab a pair of cheap seats, a beer, a dawg and watch a minor league baseball game. Or in my case a hockey game, whatever just go. It's kinda like driving for hours, you can't constantly stare at the road. You've gotta shift your gaze to keep from getting road hazed and every so often you need to hit a rest area and chill. Same for life.

I agree. Also, as long as you have the avatar you're currently sporting, I am going to have to keep liking every one of your posts.

Define relax? Just finished a Ruger stripped lower build on an ar15, have 2 uppers, 223 and 30, and a 22 adapter in one gun case, with 2 sets of optics, am going out to the range tomorrow to fire all 3 options and 0 everything. That is not a prep, it is a fun hobby and very relaxing and I don't really care what you call it. Could it be handy if TSHTF, perhaps, but I enjoy it and would much rather do that than go on a cruise, or to the beach, or to the casino for a week, and will actually spend less money. Same with garden, greenhouse, internet, etc. I enjoy a lot of things that may help if things go south, but I do them because I enjoy them and not because I am terrified of some disaster or another and feel obligated to prepare for them. By the same token my comfort level requires me to stay out of situations that disturb me. There are many areas that I no longer frequent, either the area or my perceptions of them have changed, and I just avoid them. Some of these areas are physical, some interpersonal, some social, but the world I now live in is much different than the one I lived in 50 years ago. I now relax and interact with those I feel comfortable with and with the modern communications it now includes people that I will never meet face to face and in locations I will never go to.

The most stressful thing I can think of is a beach and an umbrella drink. I am a person who is compelled to constantly work towards a goal whether it's a form of survival/prepping or work or household problems.

Even my hobbies are active, like music. Most people just play and listen. I rebuild my electronics spending hours of research followed by cleanup and component replacement. For example, a 40 year old power supply rectifier circuit board that has been cleaned, refurbished, upgraded electrolytic capacitors, and added polypropylene film snubber caps. I still listen, but usually while I'm working on something.

The only time I let my hair down is camping with old friends. It takes about three days of campfires to come down. But like others have said prepping is a lifestyle, so when camping I'm also usually testing something.

It is a 'lifestyle' so there is no goals to meet. You cannot be too prepared. It's really as simple as that... Even if I won the Powerball lottery my lifestyle of prudent preparation would not change - in fact - it would accelerate.
