So, we are suppose to be disgusted, appalled, or even dislike our president because he speaks his mind instead of having speech writers go over or write every word? And, because Steven Colbert, an idiot who would do anything for better ratings, doesn't like him, we're suppose to be moved to change our regard and opinion for our president? Again, you mimic Rachel 'mad cow' Maddow spewing nonsense, hate and discontent, "a tale told by an idiot, full of sound and fury, signifying nothing."

It isn't limited to Trump, they attack anyone who doesn't follow their God given crusade. Gingrich was on one of the public service channels answering random questions on nearly everything, Trump, the elections in Georgia, the Democratic and Republican parties, etc and he answered them with a great deal of confidence and an incredible depth of knowledge. His comment on the Russia topic was that the democrats had filed 92 different charges against him when he was in congress, all were refuted and dismissed, but they had achieved their goal and prevented any attempt to make any real changes. He thought that they were using the same tactics against Trump. His comments on "influence " pedaling , was where did the Clinton money come from and how much was accumulated while she was in office, running for office or Sec. of State.

Though I do agree with @stg58 why did he give this speech in front of the Boy Scouts?

No idea, seems silly in theory, however if I had to guess...perhaps because those scouts are the leaders of tomorrow and perhaps because they are more knowledgeable due to technology, more worldly also due to technology, basically understanding more about the world than say children and young adults from past days. Dunno...just a thought...

In this day and age no public figure makes a speech to any single group as the media and facebook etc carry it to the whole world. It may well be that he would get a wider distribution of his speech to the Boy Scouts than to a Republician political gathering similar to that the Democrats held recently.

Trump had a simple task.....give an apolitical speech affirming the core values of Scouting, and the importance of Scouting in American society and American life. Instead, he chose to insert a number of irrelevant partisan political, often disparaging remarks; and wandering off, like a dementia patient, into (seemingly autobiographical) reminiscences of a randy (wink, wink, nod, nod, I (Trump) can't tell you the sordid details because you're Boy Scouts.) wealthy and powerful, yacht owning plutocrat. Trump is a shameless national embarrassment.

Instead of making the Boy Scouts of America as the focus of his speech, TRump merely used the opportunity, (and the crowd numbers) as if it were a political rally....for his benefit The organisers of this event would have been better off inviting Melania Trump to give the speech instead of Donald...at least Melania has a better sense of gravitas than her undisciplined buffoonish husband.

Donald doesn't seem to epitomise the attributes to be striven for in the Scout Law....

It has been a long standing practice that the US President in office addresses the Boy Scouts at such Jamborees, since the late 1930's. Most Presidents speak to the assembled Scouts about Scouting, its value to the USA and its citizens, and the central aspects and core values of Scouting...but that requires a degree of maturity and an ability to think beyond one's own immediate political interests...at least for 20-30 minutes; but we are talking about Donald the Magnificent here of course, and the Jamboree participants got a whistle stop bit of un-presidential politicking instead. So sad, so bigly sad.

The BSA did publish an apology however....Boy Scouts official apologizes for 'political rhetoric' of Trump speech - CNNPolitics.com Sadly, no scout showed any initiative at the time by pulling the amplifier lead on the Toddler-In-Chief.

    Barak Obama's Address to BSA

George W Bush's Address to the BSA

What amazed me were the reactions, on camera of the suited flunkies standing behind and beside the El Presidente. Smiling, nodding and clapping at TRumps rants like the shameless clacquers that they seem to be.

I didn't see the speech but it must have been VERY good judging from all the rants, negative comments, and 'sploady heads from the liberals (even those from OZ). MAGA Mr. President. [winkthumb][touchdown]Even the libs say he isn't like any recent president we've had. They're right, he ain't! Oh yeah I should add...MAGA Mr. President

Agreed....and if Donald would stick to the speech script, he'd probably make a reasonable fist of it. The problem is when he goes off script, and starts adlibbing. Donald is not that good an orator that he can speak without going of into incoherent, irrelevant tangents.

Unfortunately, with Donald, every time and place and occasion, is an opportunity for politics: He rarely denies himself those opportunities....
