    Shadilay,

Today I ordered 2kg of seed in order to start growing microgreens and testing viability as a staple/survival food in an small enclosed area.
I will be using the 2 spare sleeping cells in my trailer as grow spaces and a 600 watt growlight.
Rather than buying the proper trays, i'll be using beer flats covered in walmart shopping bags and 50/50 mix of cheap peat moss and potting mix.

    Seeds:
    Broccoli Brassica Blend
Broccoli Brassica Blend contains Broccoli, Broccoli Raab, Radish, Mustard, Arugula.

    • Days to Sprout Sprout- 4-5, Microgreen- 8-12
    • Soak Time 2-3 hours
    • Yield 1 Tbsp of dry seed yields 3-4 cups of sprouts 1 Tbs of dry seeds yields 4-5 cups of microgreens
This sprouting mix has high levels of sulforaphane, a cellular detoxifier that may prevent cancer and rejuvenate the immune system.

Arugula- Very high in protein, vitamin B6, amino acids, iron and calcium
Broccoli- Rich in vitamins K, C, B6, and E, folate, dietary fiber phosphorus, potassium, and magnesium
Mustard- A powerhouse of protein and a great source of vitamins A, B6, and C, calcium, iron, magnesium, phosphorus, potassium, and amino acids.
Radish- Great protein source and very good source of vitamins A, B6, C, calcium, iron, magnesium, phosphorus, potassium, and zinc.

    • Days to Sprout 8 to 10
    • Soak Time 4-8 hours
    • Yield 1/4 cup seed yields approx. 3 cups of sunflower shoots
    Updates to come.

Due to my "Problematic" eating issues i'm planning on mixing these 50/50 with my cheese omelettes to max out the nutrients. (i eat a LOT of omelettes)

    Will see how it goes.

@Ganado will love that you have started this growing operation. It is amazing how these little sprouts can taste so differently. Can't wait for updates.

Little over $30 for 2kg of seeds...considering what i've paid for tiny packets of seed in the past - this is nothing.
I can get the beer flats for free at nearby liquor store - up to 20 at a time so no issues there...
    This stuff sells for $16/lb.....absurd.

I would think it would be a good source of vitamins and fiber but zero calories, IMO.

We went a slightly different direction on the sprouting some years ago. The OP got quite the deal on his mix, can't wait to hear how it all turns out.

Old school sprouting (I'm an old guy & this works for me)
Sprouted wheat (see Wheat, sprouted Nutrition Facts & Calories ) link for nutrition info. Sprouted wheat can be dried (dehydrated) and ground in a mill. See if your store carries sprouted wheat flour - try before you begin on the journey. Store the flour in the freezer until use if you go the large batch route.

    Alfalfa -
A serving of 100 grams of alfalfa sprouts have (daily value percentage):
    • 23 calories
    • 2.1 grans carbohydrates
    • 3.99 grams protein
    • 0.69 gram fat
    • 1.9 grams fiber
    • 30.5 micrograms vitamin K (38 percent DV)
    • 8.2 milligrams vitamin C (14 percent DV)
    • 36 micrograms folate (9 percent DV)
    • 0.2 milligram manganese (9 percent DV)
    • 0.2 milligram copper (8 percent DV)
    • 70 milligrams phosphorus (7 percent DV)
    • 27 milligrams magnesium (7 percent DV)
    • 0.1 milligram riboflavin(7 percent DV)
    • 0.9 milligram zinc (6 percent DV)
    • 1 milligram iron (5 percent DV)
    • 0.1 milligram thiamine (5 percent DV)
    • 155 IU vitamin A (3 percent DV)
In the diet mostly for the minerals, plus a bit of bulk. Fun for the kiddos
    Bean sprouts
    Mung
    • 212 calories.
    • 14 grams of protein.
    • 15 grams of fiber.
    • 1 gram of fat.
    • 4 grams of sugar.
    • 321 micrograms of folate (100%)
    • 97 milligrams of magnesium (36%)
    • 0.33 milligrams of vitamin b1 thiamine (36%)

Besides mung beans, you can sprout lentils, chickpeas, and adzuki beans. The soak water from the Adzuki beans is nutrient rich, so save/use in soups, etc.
    Looking forward to
    @Mindgrinder
    posts of the Chow results.

@DKR is the calorie count on the Mung Bean sprouts correct? If so, what is the serving size? That's great if it is.

    at least on the beans

Other microgreens (if not used in omelets) best eaten with root veggies or meat. I make a spicy carrot salad that makes every micro green taste better. I will post later.

I seeded 1 tray unevenly so harvested it early yesterday....aboot a cup of the mixed arugala, broc, mustard blend and chucked it into a stew...didn't taste it at all but apparently added 40 cups = nutrients.
    *shrugs*

    *edit*
Side note - the beer flats and wall mart bag idea is a no-go...the cardboard gets too wet and moldy in a few days.
