Found on another forum A man named Tom Nicholson posted on his Facebook account the sports car that he had just bought and how a man approached and told him that the money used to buy this car could've fed thousands of less fortunate people. His response to this man made him famous on the internet. A guy looked at my Corvette the other day and said, "I wonder how many people could have been fed for the money that sports car cost." I replied I am not sure, it fed a lot of families in Bowling Green, Kentucky who built it, it fed the people who make the tires, it fed the people who made the components that went into it, it fed the people in the copper mine who mined the copper for the wires, it fed people in Decatur, IL. at Caterpillar who make the trucks that haul the copper ore. It fed the trucking people who hauled it from the plant to the dealer and fed the people working at the dealership and their families. BUT,... I have to admit, I guess I really don't know how many people it fed. That is the difference between capitalism and welfare mentality. When you buy something, you put money in people's pockets, and give them dignity for their skills. When you give someone something for nothing, you rob them of their dignity and self worth. Capitalism is freely giving your money in exchange for something of value. Socialism is taking your money against your will and shoving something down your throat that you never asked for. I've decided I can't be politically correct anymore. In an attempt to regain that dignity and self worth they will try to force others on the program. Once its 'the norm' they will feel good about themselves again. If that doesn't work they will whine and complain at the top of their lungs until people in charge get tired of hearing it and will institute an old law forcing everyone to participate in the socialist program of their choice. Then later the people in charge will realize that they can skim off the top of all this money going from one pocket to another and will institute a program like this for everyone. It will grow and grow until everyone is in a 'fairness' (socialist) program that makes everyone feel good about themselves no matter how stupid they are. Later on down the line the powers that be will realize how much money they have and since there is nothing left to skim off the top worth anything they will take their new found power and wealth and kill of those people for being so stupid.
With a car like that, the sales tax added to his state's revenue, which goes into local social programs. His insurance premiums could put an agent's kid through college.
Somehow, I'm going to get this printed out and stick it up around town. It's time for people to get back to working , earning their possesions , and re-learn the pride in earning and respecting their and others property.
The liberals around here all scream about their total right to private property, no pipe lines, roads, electric transmission lines, shopping centers, cutting trees etc shall be built on or near their land and go to court at the drop of a hat, picket, hold demonstrations etc because someone may do something that has an impact on 400 people in a native tribe in Canada 600 miles away. At the same time they all believe that everyone has a God given right to free education, free medical care, subsidized or free housing, no one should be hungry, everyone deserves a minimum level of income even if they don't work, etc, and insist that we take someone else's money or property to pay for it. As the English lady said, socialism works fine until you run out of the other peoples money. I only wish that it was limited to the liberals as in this worst of all worlds, the other sides, call them capitalist or what ever, are just as quick to figure out schemes to take other peoples money as well, F-35 fighter has made a lot of people rich, just wished it worked, or bailing out the banks, or near 0 interest rate and the Feds creating almost unlimited money, 20 trillion in national debt, etc. We somehow have become an equal opportunity society where common sense and moral principles are long gone and everyone has a right to his neighbors property if he so wishes. It is a sad commentary on this modern world that most of the fastest growing religions are all based on the concept that you really aren't responsible for your actions and won't be held accountable for them.. If you believe you will be saved, or if you follow some book as described by some priest or holy man you will get x number of virgins in paradise. It seems like the only sane thing to do is live as well as you can in this crazy world, enjoy the simple things that really count, good food, family, good health, etc, and realize that the rest of the world is not going to change. Saw a comment that seems to be true in this world we live in. The optimist thinks his glass is half full, the pessimist thinks his glass is half empty, and the realist wonders if someone pis*** in his glass.
I had to laugh about the lib-tards demanding the total right of private property but then demanding that everyone else's property belongs to them too. Some of Bernie the loser's followers here had "Bernie - free stuff for everyone!" signs all over their fences, and of course there property is heavily fenced in and covered with PRIVATE PROPERTY! NO TRESPASSING! signs too.
