In the last week, the news has forgotten about Russia and now seems to be focusing on the issue with North Korea, or is it an issue? Kim Jung Un has been threatening the United States for years. Year after year the threats keep coming but now he is flexing his strength and testing missiles and issues a threat towards Guam . Trump issued a warning towards Kim Jung Un, “they will be met with fire and fury like the world has never seen.” Trump’s speech is quite reminiscent of Truman’s words after the bombs were dropped on Japan.

Truman told the Japanese that "if they do not now accept our terms they may expect a rain of ruin from the air, the like of which has never been seen on this Earth."

What truly is going on? I have no idea what to believe but I do know that people are uneasy. We had a discussion here about a nuke hitting the left coast but this week the nation seems focused. Both left, right, democrat or republican, whether male or female; no one knows how to view this. Someone suggested Trump was playing chicken with Kim Jung Un but is it wise to play chicken with someone like Kim?

    March 2017-
A Texas businessman whose trade is in survival says the Trump administration has been a boon to his bottom line. Clyde Scott of Rising S Company in Texas says orders for survival shelters have doubled amid political uncertainty.

“During the Obama administration our sales went up 250 percent. In the Trump administration in the past month our sales probably went up 500 percent," Scott said in an interview with NBC News in February. Bunker sales spike as some prepare for worst amid uncertainty

    April 2017-
Hawaii lawmakers want state officials to update plans for coping with a nuclear attack as North Korea develops nuclear weapons and ballistic missiles that can reach the islands. The state House Public Safety Committee unanimously passed a resolution Thursday. Hawaii panel asks state to prepare for North Korea attack

This week people are starting to get concerned. With the increased sanctions that came down on North Korea, it was predictable that Kim would react but how far will he go? Will fire and fury truly be headed his way?

Please note not just America has had it with Kim Jung Un-

The press is no longer interested in Russia because they have noticed that the Democrats are now trying to distance themselves from that particular load of cow squeeze. This is similar to how they backed off stories pushing gun control when the Democrats realized that their overreaching there may have cost them the Presidential election and almost certainly cost them several seats in Congress. Now they are reporting about North Korea to repeat the memes given them by the DNC to criticize Trump. Take a sniff at almost any top tier reporter, anchor, or producer and you will find spouses, siblings, and mentors within the DNC. Check out Twitchy and then wait for the failed memes there to be respun and reported by the MSM.

That said North Korea is a threat. Given time they will do something very nasty to us involving nuclear, chemical, or both devices. I would not make the mistake of underestimating them. While many of us grew up playing video games they grow up learning about how to kill Americans. Do not let pictures of sycophantic generals fool you regarding their military the same. China sees it, why else would they mass so many troops along the North Korea border and then agree to stiff sanctions against them as well? They know Trump has more spine than any president since Reagan and possibly Kennedy.

I call it an unpredictable situation merely due to the lunatic in charge of NK. Serious threat? Certainly. A load of hot air? That, too.
Whether or not lil Kim follows through on his threats remains to be seen...and until then, I will keep a close ear on what is transpiring.

    Let's see.
No security counsel veto for sanctions on NK by China and Russia.
Basically cut them off from world trade, food and energy is already in short supply.
Well, what is it that they say about not picking a fight with someone that has nothing left to lose?

It's almost like China and Russia want us to go in there and lay waste to the place. It would work out swimmingly for them. We'd be the viewed as the aggressor yet again. And probably years on, they'll notice that as we mopped up the place, we are hard pressed to find these nukes.

If we attack them, be ready for global back lash against us by those that we've been policing all these years. Think Ferguson, MO but global. It won't be pretty if it happens. I wouldn't be surprised if there were resolutions passed against our gov't.

So far as I know, those "policing" exercises were initiated by the UN. Also, from the bits and pieces of real news that come up, other UN peace keeping forces are not all that well behaved. But that isn't TOO important when NK gets mixed into the conversation. Our military "police" will have to have the ROEs change so they can protect themselves, more's the pity.

Yep, it is critically important that we do NOT do the first (preemptive) strike. Let the fat boy throw the first rock, and his palace will glow brightly enough to be seen from space. And world opinion will, if not applaud and praise us for exterminating a vermin, then at least sympathize with any losses if somehow fat boy manages a hit.

Perhaps it's time to clarify, Proactive or Reactive! Today's business model penalizes reactionary responses. What makes you think that we shouldn't respond until after we have been nuked? Hasn't the lessons of Pearl Harbor or 9/11 filtered into your thinking? Just kick thier butt's prior to them hurting our populous, I'll call that justifiable and History be Damned! It's all about them giving thier lives for thier country. I don't care to bury Ours because we waited for them to make the first strike. What's the UN done for US?

  8. UncleMorgan

UncleMorgan I like peeling bananas and (occasionally) people.

To blockade a nation's ports is an act of war.

When we blockaded Cuba during the 1963 Missile Crisis we actually started a shooting war with Cuba under the terms of International Law.
But everyone declined to shoot their missiles at the very last possible instant--and then everyone pretended it wasn't really a war, after all. never had been. It was just a little misunderstanding, is all.

When we embargoed food and oil shipments to Japan, they bombed Pearl Harbor. (It takes some serious digging to find the truth about WWII.)

The citizens of North Korea are are several inches shorter than the citizens of South Korea because they are malnourished from birth. That's because North Korea spends so much of it's GDP building up the military. (It's classic economics: Lottsa guns =no butter.)

Kim Jung Un is a very dangerous man. You don't rise to the top of the heap in a commie hellhole like North Korea without killing your enemies. And probably all their family and friends.

Even so--while he may be insane by our standards, he's neither crazy nor stupid. He doesn't want North Korea covered with thirty inches of glowing green glass.

So he'll put on a maniac display and worry the world until he gets what he really wants. And that's probably concessions. Lots of concessions.

He definitely doesn't want war with the US. If he did, all he would have to do is, say, bomb one of our naval bases, or attack an American warship.

But he knows that if he ever crosses that invisible (and highly moveable) line in the sand, we will destroy him--personally--and as much of North Korea as gets in our way in the process.

He also knows that if we lay waste to North Korea, it will be China that helps North Korea rebuild--as a province of China.

Kim Jung Un reminds me of Khrushchev. He could dance of a tightrope while juggling atomic bombs blindfolded.

And he pretty much got what he wanted.

So let's see how all this plays out.

But one thing is absolutely certain. No one on this planet will survive a global thermonuclear war.

Well two things here give me hope. Commiefornia wants to pull out of the Union, and lib-tards would flock there, and any earthquake would probably slide it off into the ocean due to the weight. North Korea has nukes that can reach the Left Coast so we may not have to wait until an earthquake to get rid of it.

My thoughts exactly. They have nothing left to lose. Kim has threatened continually and all it has done is bring more poverty and starvation to his people. I do not believe the people will rise up and try to make their country a better place. Those people have lived in conditions that I cannot imagine. I try to think what it would be like to live in a country that has crippling sanctions imposed upon it. I try to imagine having a leader like Kim Jung Un but I cannot. I have been free all my life. Do those people truly cherish and believe Kim Jung Un? Do they really believe the propaganda that they hear year after year? I do not want to kill thousands of North Koreans. I do not want us to destroy the place with bombs but if we did would the survivors (North Koreans) want to kill us or would they be happy to be rid of the Kim Jung Un leadership?

As ill conceived and/or precarious as the far left is, they still have a glow in the dark US of A flag on thier shoulder. Not to mention that this is a global threat! ICBM's are not a leftist/left coast killer. It's just as likely that ground zero is New York as Los Angles.Service members in Guam kid about being at ground zero, those are the folks giving the DPRK the American equivalent of the BIRD! JMHO!

He hasn't got anything from the world for his past and present behavior besides more sanctions. It does not seem to be working.

A lady from the West Coast today was questioning on-line if she should buy a gas mask. She was worried that any day NK will send a nuke over here. When I see comments like that it really bothers me because people are getting scared. Plus just having a gas mask is not going to save her.

The largest conventionally armed services are nothing more than the largest amounts of casualties in a Nuclear War. What makes you think that China cares about the common Warrior!
What makes you concerned about acceptable causalities on the left coast of America as long as the greater populous survives?

Hey, California wants to succeed from the Union. A couple of DPRK Nukes should lend credence to thier cause. All the other Cali-sentiment secessionists should take note....

The fat boy isn't likely to take us on directly as a first move, or at least I don't think he's that stupid. However, he may just do a calculation that points to a chance that we will hold our hand if he drops conventional or other weaps on, say, the Philippines. No practical matter that I can see whether he shoots first or we do, at the end of it all, NK is a cinder. He KNOWS that, and political saber rattling is about all he has on his side.

It appears that there is a general assumption that he means the US specifically; a very narrow minded outlook, sez me and maybe me only. We are a handy and easy to pronounce in Korean bugaboo, as well as being allied with all his local antagonists, which you may read as SK. I dare say that he takes a more general view that any ally of the US is the same as the US. YMMV, and of course it will be contrary to mine.

I don't want California to leave the Union, I just want the moochers there to go somewhere else and take the ones in Washington and Oregon with them. Plenty of good folks still there behind enemy lines. Don't discount the importance of the agricultural areas.

Lest we forget about the 2 satellites that are in a polar orbit over the united states that
are thought to carry nukes for an emp strike against us it we try something.

North Korea may be planning satellite EMP attack

I would have to believe we have some gunter killer Sats near by in a mirror orbit.

    But as usual YMMV
