Hi Everyone! I am new here. I just joined yesterday. I am from Virginia and was looking for a Messianic Jewish, Christian or Nice-Mixed-Group of an off-grid self-sustaining community to move to between South Virginia and North Carolina. If you know of any, please send me a PM. It would be most deeply appreciated. I am an inspirational writer and woman warrior for justice writer; I love to write, draw, paint, crochet, sew, cook healthy, go on nature trail hikes, learn & study holistic medicine and many fields of Science, Study the Bible, study other languages & about other cultures, help equip others with knowledge & understanding that aids in preventing victimhood from predators, foster Love/Unity/Peace/Life, Foster & Protect life, Help problem solve with positive solutions that fosters life, be at one with GOD & Nature, and I love to help others in any way I can. I am not perfect but I am always transparent, blunt, honest and straight forward. Most of the time I completely speak my mind of what I feel, believe, see and think, UNLESS I must wisely think about what and how to speak at a more appropriate time, being diplomatic with understanding. I Love to learn, read, write, listen to music and write music. I just want to be a part of a community where I can make a positive impacting difference in life, where everyone is family, with mutual love & respect for each other, others and life. A place where I can learn and help others learn what has helped me overcome abuse and challenges in life. I look forward to hearing from you who wish to communicate with me, and will be most thankful for every friendship. May you all have a wonderful and amazing day. With Love, Respect & Prayers Always, AbbyL
Hello.... I haven’t lived in, or seen, such a “Community” since I left the Commune back in ‘72, and ended the Hippy Phase of life.... Utopia is a figment of a Dreamer’s imagination... It all sounds good, but in the REAL World, it is Blue Sky, Sunshine.... Rain & Snow, does come into peoples lives... especially where i live...
That is a very nice way to be. In today's world traits like yours seem to be a rarity. Welcome to the monkey @AbbyL
OMG! BTPost was a HIPPIE!!!! Someone call 911 because I think the world must be ending! Wait! Let me run outside and check. Can you believe this? A Hippie!?!?! (Note to self: no answer on 911, world must definitely be ending, grab extra 5.56 magazines and the scotch, the good stuff, 1st cabinet, top shelf) @AbbyL Welcome! Well, you are in the right spot to learn new things, lots of knowledge here. I have a confession to make - this is the the only forum I am on and the only forum that I have ever been to more than once, been here now - not sure, certainly more than a year, maybe two. The crowd here can be tough but fair so don't let that scare you, just have your ducks in a row before sticking your foot in your mouth because lots of well informed and experienced people here and lots of interesting folks from everywhere. And, when you do stick your foot in your mouth, just ensure to chew quietly and politely because we're all learning here. This forum has actually changed my opinion on few major topic not from being brow-beaten but by good hard facts presented by intelligent people here. Anyway, the wife is canning salsa and needs my expertise in the matter of taste testing - work, work, work - so I bid you welcome and look forward to conversing with you in the Monkey Tree.
Thank You for the welcome! It is deeply appreciated. May you have an awesome week. =) Thank you for the welcome and for recognizing that I am unique. I make it a point to be and to encourage unique individuality in others. =) May you have a wonderful week! =)
Welcome to the Monkey. Look forward to your opinions and take on things. Some days you prosper, some days you survive and some days you just exist. May you live long and prosper.
Thank you for the welcome! Hippie, I am not..but LOL, you are funny! I like that. Although not a hippie, like one but not, my mom called me flowerchild as a young girl because I was always picking bouquets of flowers to give away, growing flowers, gardening with my grandmother & studying about plants and ecosystems from my dad & grandparents. And I actually do play tambourine professionally...well, have in past years...Ironic, right? LOL =) Well this is the type of place I like to be a part of, where people are blunt honest & straight-forward, believe in living/seeking-out/learning Whole-Picture Full-Truth and encourage Unique Individuality...Something I strongly live by. "I am no puppet-on-a-string cookie-mold-cutout of anyone you may know; For I am boldly uniquely me, everywhere I go." ~Abagail~ Therefore, I feel right at home, here. I love learning so much, I have my own small library and always love watching educational shows/documentaries on television, when I can/have time; especially various fields of Science, History and Archaeology. Most of all, I love learning from the classroom of life, people and nature. It is more interesting and accurate that way, with whole-picture full-truth. I look forward to chatting with all of you, as well. This is definitely a nice site with nice and interesting people, who are all beautiful in each of their own unique ways. Hope you and your wife have fun with the homemade salsa. Sounds like fun, to me. =) May you have an awesome week. Thanks for the laugh and nice welcome. It is truly appreciated. Thank You Duane, for the nice welcome and words of encouragement. I also look forward to everyone's point of view, wisdom and inspirational experiences. I hope I will offer as much as I glean from everyone's contributions. May you have an awesome week! Thank you MotoMom! Rare, indeed. To me, it is Living life truly free, by being transparent blunt honest and straight-forward. And Definitely to be Unique, leads to true freedom, no matter what environment we live in. =)
They do actually still exist, but not in the state I want to live in. I know people in those communities, like the way I want to live, the old fashion way, where I feel most alive....but again, not in an area or state I want to live. I believe if I keep looking, I will find what I am looking for. I am definitely not a hippie, but ironically my mom called me flowerchild as a young girl because I was always picking bouquets of flowers to give away, growing flowers, gardening with my grandmother, learning about ecosystems from my grandparents, my father & through studies, etc.... always going camping with family and going on nature trail hikes and helping out with various wildlife conservation projects and education of children in those areas of wildlife education/conservation....etc. Believe me, no matter where you live, or how you live, everyone faces challenges in life to various different degrees. No area or person or community is perfect....that will never be, until the LORD returns. Every challenge and life experience, is a classroom full of priceless valuable treasures of sage-wise wisdom & lessons that help one grow from one Faith & Maturity Level to the Next. It is called living and experiencing LIFE, with Eagle-Eye Observational Skills leading to growth, peace and true joy. =) PS. "Rain or Sunshine does not define the atmosphere of the day; For Love does Always Shine, to Brighten Every Day." ~Abagail~ Thank You for the Welcome! =) Thank you for the welcome and for the encouragement. I am a writer who loves to learn and share. I have much to learn, much growing up to do and much to share. So I should feel right at home, here. =)
Greetings and welcome! I hope you find the locale you desire...but in the meantime enjoy the hospitality here! Lots of good, knowledgeable folks...and always seeking new (or old) ways to accomplish tasks.
Yep, didn't do the commune thing, but was something of a hippie myself nontheless. Those of us who decided that we had to come to terms with reality (in other words, behave like mature adults), grew out of that phase. Others, not so much. Today we call them liberals, leftists and Democrats.
Dylan Thomas. My favorite line from that poem is "Rage, rage against the dying of the light". That is the epitome of living life with courage
