PAYPAL Spoof, be careful what you open and do not click on anything in this type email.

Just received an email, from PAYPAL, but it,is not from PAYPAL!

Sent it to Paypal and they agree.

Always check the sender's email address for validity.

 

I gotten so many of those, reported them to spoof@paypal.com. Finally I closed my PayPal account because they wouldn't stop. Haven't gotten any more since. Sounds like an inside job.

They're fairly easy to spot because of misspelled words, words used out of context, and in general bad English. The English had been getting a little better by the time I closed the account.

 

Odd. I haven't received one in years. I have two PayPal accounts. One is for the US; the other for Australia.

 

I used to get them, and I don't have a paypal account.

 

I get them all the time along with all the bank ones, "Your order" ones and like a dozen others, I never click links on them.. in the odd instance that I think it might be legit.. I just go directly to the website & log in that way.. if its legit it will let me know on login (never happens...)

I have avoided PP like the plague since years ago I had two occasions of credit card theft, directly attributed to PayPal. Another attempt later after killing PP and getting yet another new card.

 

I’ve had issues with my apple pay too. You never know these days. I have one credit card that I use for online stuff and watch it like a hawk. I’ve had to change it’s number before because of suspicious things.

 

However, the concept of using PayPal is a good one especially for our electronic payment modern world. The idea of having one place with your credit/debit card information rather than a hundred different organizations lowers your odds of being hack but of course the one place has to have solid security and reliable employees.

What I do is I use PayPal and I have two banks. One bank is my main bank where a good chunk of my cash resides and I have credit/debit cards and checks to access it - but I don't use it unless it is absolutely necessary. The second bank with checking/debit card also, has a small amount of cash and it is where all my purchases and bill paying goes through so if that is hacked, it would hurt but not be catastrophic. When funds get a bit low then I transfer money from my main bank. PayPal is also paid from here. I also limit my chipped debit card to maximum $2500 but been think of lowering that even more, perhaps $1500. I don't have a credit card on this working account. I figure this is the best I can do at this time is to limit my exposure.

The sooner you send it to the owner of the site attacked the sooner they kill the deal.

I once had a theft of a card. Person purchased a "Breast Pump" from an Az site, to be shipped to Cn. It was a Sunday Morning and we killed the deal instantly.

Same card was used by a gamer, all local and the card was used in a small town eatery, just the night before.

Just practice the rule of thumb that I constantly tell/remind people of:
NEVER CLICK A LINK IN AN E-MAIL, THAT WILL TAKE YOU SOMEWHERE THAT WILL ASK YOU TO LOG INTO YOUR ACCOUNT!!

No exclusions, no excuses. Chase Bank has probably the best anti-theft/anti-fraud departments, of any bank I can think of, off the top of my head. Hell, one time, when I was flying, we landed, and I turned my phone on. Immediately had a text from Chase, stating that a suspected fraudulent charge was made on my credit card, to such and such place, for such and such amount. Now that's proactive!

But you know what? When I get an e-mail from them, asking me to log into my account for whatever reason, I still delete the e-mail, then open a new tab in my browser, and TYPE IN the url, for their website, in order to log in. It's really the only way you can be 100% certain that you're not being scammed.
