The Wild Bunch ---classic Western shoot' em up with great cast, esp. William Holden & Ernest Borgnine.
Tombstone ---- classic Wyatt Earp film with great performances By Kurt Russell, Val Kilmer, Powers Boothe, and Michael Biehn.
Wyatt Earp ----released about 6 months after (1994) Tombstone. More historic/documentary 3-hour film of the Earps.
High Noon / Pride of the Yankees / They Came to Cordura ----for the Gary Cooper fans.
The Caine Mutiny ---- H. Bogart's excellent performance of a Navy destroyer Captain who was borderline mentally unstable.
The Shootist ---- The Duke's last film; and it dealt with the same issue that got him in real life.
The Longest Day --- great 1960s cast of the D-Day Invasion
The Great Escape---- WW2 Allied POWs work together to escape the German Stalag. Features Steve McQueen & a great cast.

  3. I don't think there is a movie mentioned here that wouldn't be worth seeking out to watch again. But none are new movies. These movies had story, plot, direction, and acting. Not special effects to carry them.

you obviously have never watched sharknado:LOL::LOL::LOL:

  5. Ya. I hate to admit it but in a weak moment I have watched a couple of the "Sharknado" films. And I did chuckle (quietly). To get back to the subject of this site. With the technology available today, why hasn't anyone made a faithful "Lucifer's Hammer" ?

I just finished watching the Mythica movie series (there are 5 of them) this past weekend, and I absolutely loved them all.
These movies aren't class-A productions, but if you're a fantasy lover and enjoy a great story, it won't disappoint. The writing and directing are very good, and most of the acting is decent, so I really won't complain. They put most of their money into the sets, props, and editing, then paid actors and did the rest with what they had left over. I have to say this series goes down as one of my all time favorites just because it was so good. I love it when a small venture can do better than top Hollywood productions.

The first two movies in the series are free to watch on Amazon (with Prime). The remaining 3 movies are affordable to watch if you rent them ($3.99 rental).

Link to first movie: Amazon.com: Mythica: A Quest for Heroes: Melanie Stone, Adam Johnson, Nicola Posener, Jake Stormoen: Amazon Digital Services LLC

The correct order to watch these movies is:
    1-Mythica: A Quest for Heroes
    2-Mythica: The Darkspore
    3-Mythica: The Necromancer
    4-Mythica: The Iron Crown
    5-Mythica: The Godslayer

You could also buy the set, if you prefer: $27.05 https://www.amazon.com/dp/B074WVYHWH/?tag=survivalmonke-20

Very funny, actually. Really pokes fun at a lot of different things, including the Little Green Men movies...

    In case you missed it....

  16. The first time only saw part of it. Took two or three times to catch the beginning. Is there any cliché they missed? Very funny in an irreverent way.

  20. I keep thinking of more movies I like. One is "The Tin Star" Henry Fonda, Betsy Palmer, Anthony Perkins, John McIntire, Lee Van Cleef, Neville Brand. Fonda is a bounty hunter. Shows Perkins the ropes. Wins Palmer in the end. Another is "Battle Ground" 101st surrounded in Bastogne. Wins through in the end. Van Johnson, John Hodiak, Marshal Thomsen, James Arness, James Whitmore, Ricardo Montalban. Common thread, both are a relatively small groups of individuals striving against, and overcoming, seemingly impossible odds. "Thirty Seconds Over Tokyo" Great morale movie. Made not even a year after Pear Harbor was bombed. Falls into the same common thread. "Back to Bataan" , "Air Force", "Destination Burma" Same.
