soooooo true...I have many friends who ride...(Why is that song "Signs" going through my head??) I saw you, hug your purse closer to you in the grocery store line. But, you didn't see me, put an extra $10.00 in the collection plate last Sunday. I saw you, pull your child closer when we passed each other on the sidewalk. But, you didn't see me, playing Santa at the local mall. I saw you, change your mind about going into the restaurant. But, you didn't see me, attending a meeting to raise more money for the hurricane relief. I saw you, roll up your window and shake your head when I drove by. But, you didn't see me, driving behind you when you flicked your cigarette butt out the car window I saw you, frown at me when I smiled at your children. But, you didn't see me, when I took time off from work to run toys to the homeless. I saw you, stare at my long hair. But, you didn't see me, and my friends cut ten inches off for Locks of Love. I saw you, roll your eyes at our leather coats and gloves. But, you didn't see me, and my brothers donate our old coats and gloves to those that had none. I saw you, look in fright at my tattoos. But, you didn't see me, cry as my children where born and have their name written over and in my heart. I saw you, change lanes while rushing off to go somewhere. But, you didn't see me, going home to be with my family. I saw you, complain about how loud and noisy our bikes can be. But, you didn't see me, when you were changing the CD and drifted into my lane. I saw you, yelling at your kids in the car. But, you didn't see me, pat my child's hands, knowing he was safe behind me. I saw you, reading the newspaper or map as you drove down the road. But, you didn't see me, squeeze my wife's leg when she told me to take the next turn. I saw you, race down the road in the rain. But, you didn't see me, get soaked to the skin so my son could have the car to go on his date. I saw you, run the yellow light just to save a few minutes of time. But, you didn't see me, trying to turn right I saw you, cut me off because you needed to be in the lane I was in. But, you didn't see me, leave the road. I saw you, waiting impatiently for my friends to pass. But, you didn't see me. I wasn't there. I saw you, go home to your family. But, you didn't see me. Because, I died that day you cut me off. I was just a biker. A person with friends and a family. But, you didn't see me. Repost this around if you like....in hopes that people will understand the biker community .
That's good, but unfortunately too true. I have been around the biker community my whole life and have met some of the best, kindest, and most honorable people in the world.
I used to run with a group of Christian bikers. Soldiers for Christ MC. Made up of pastors and born again Christians. One of the pastors was Kevin Barrows, Clyde Barrows grandson from Borger, Texas. Unless you read the patches you wouldn't have known from their looks that they were a bunch of Christians. We still got the sideways, down the nose looks from people.

Most people just see the "1percenters" I used to ride, not even a Harley.....a sportbike, and older folks were scared of me. I stopped to help an elderly woman with a flat tire one time and she locked her door and wouldn't even look at me. I tried to tell her I was there to help but she was just scared and wouldn't even look at me. Kinda made me mad, kinda felt sorry for her.
As have I , MM.....and some of the biggest hearts I have had the honor and pleasure of knowing.....this hit home...because it's true...in so many cases... I hate it when people judge others by the way they look , or what they wear...or how long their hair is, etc.......I've just seen it happen....and I don't like it.... Oh well..just had to post it....
Touching verse, CRC, and there are some really good bikers but that doesn't negate that some of the biggest A-holes I have ever met were scooter trash.
I take the good with the bad, with most everything in life...... Just the way it is.... I don't have to like it.....just accept it....
I'm a dual-sport rider, and have friends among the Harley group, the Crotch-Rocket group, the Tour Bike groups, etc. Each has it's own flavor, mode of dress, way of talking, etc. BUT, we all get 'the look' from many supposedly 'normal' people. Little do they realize we have among us the same Doctors, Teachers, Business Executives, Students and others that are thought of as 'normal' people. Several upper managers at my State office ride. They don't usually look like 'bikers'. There are those riders who make us all look bad - the 'scooter trash' on his Hog, the young idiot popping wheelies on his C-R on the main drag during the lunch hour rush (that I personally saw!). Had the young woman who nearly ran me over when I was riding the week before done it here, he'd have been 'street pizza'. I see just as many morons behind the wheel, as well as those stepping in front of both cars and bikes crossing the street away from the marked crossings. Ah well, the stupid pervade society. Modern society protects and fosters them - to the extreme irritation of us on bikes. I always laugh at those who simply 'don't get it'. Like the Harley guys say, "If I have to explain it to you, you'll never understand!" During the winter, "How can you ride in the cold!?" Says I - "I have this new invention, the 'coat'!" (I tried explaining the concept of layering and "dressing for the ride" - no luck!) "How can you ride in the rain!?" Says I, "I have a RAINcoat!" Dad once told me, "You can't ride that thing a long ways on the highway!" Says I, "Well, I just did it TWICE!" (referring to two multistate road trips I had done!) They just can't understand . . .
