Ok here good home made cone dart that hits hard and easy and cheep to make and depends on what HDPE bottle you use depends on the color you will have
Love that Hoody you got on Bishop! Good tips and tricks! I have an idea, You could mark your dowel and while the dart hoods are still pressed into the plastic, you could cut them off and they should be trimmed at the correct size! Assuming your Dowel is a nice tight fit, this would make a uniform and repeatable mold to work with, and probably save the plastic so you can get more out of it! FWIW
@Bishop, I've made those darts and blowguns since I was a kid and have taken numerous rats, squirrels, birds, and feral cats with them. My ex-father in law made one from a piece of conduit with a butane chamber and ignitor. It was a simple bolt action that worked sort of like a potato gun, talk about too much time on your hands. Anyway, it hit with enough velocity to invert the cones so he started using plastic beads melted onto sharpened brazing rod for darts and sort of totally defeated the purpose and simplicity of the primitive weapon but it was fun.
It's funny you say that because I have in the past down scaled a potato gun to half inch pipe and made my darts out of 16 inch whip antenna and black electrical tape it would 4 inches through a 2×4
