I know we have a few threads that discuss the Flu but this is a yearly thing and some years are worse than others. Here is a refresher on flu vs. cold:
    oKqcAqa2.

Body aches is the one that is the most telling if you have the flu. There is so much information and disinformation that one doesn't know what to believe. I have read that this year, 7 out of 10 who received the flu shot are getting the flu. I also read a teaspoon of honey a day will keep you healthy. Hard to sort out the hype and the disinformation.

Carry Lysol, bleach wipes and a mask. Avoid drug stores, medical offices. These are all things I do during the flu season. What to do when you have the flu? I always focus first on fluids and staying hydrated.

I try to avoid it by taking vitamins and herbs to be strong. Various hot teas can help. Garlic and cayenne pepper are good for staying strong and healthy.

I got one of those flu shots for the 1st time in my life about a month ago. If the flu last 2-3 weeks , I think that shot compressed those 2-3 weeks into 2 1/2 days. I guess it was better than suffering for 3 weeks. Not sure if I'll take another one or not.

Just finished a bout with that nasty flu and wife is recovering as well. It is very debilitating and the onset was rapid and complete, one moment just fine, an hour later feeling like death warmed over. I haven't had a cold in over 15 years so it hit me particularly hard. I take honey (home-grown) every day, plenty of vitamins, eat a well balanced diet and am in excellent physical condition for a 62 year old man. I also try to get a flu shot every year but may have been remiss this year.

I stopped getting the flu once I began avoiding the vaccines.
Not all vaccines are bad, but after serious reading of the development and 'testing' of flu vaccines, I avoid them like..... the plague.

I got the flu shot, and I just got over the flu. Yeah, that's me. Husband got the shot because he spent November in Columbia and had to have tons of vaccinations (including rabies, again. the rabies vac hurts fyi). So, youngest boy and I both got the flu. I thought the worst part was that I was exhausted in a way I haven't been in years. Husband babied me. He didn't make soup, but he did warm some up from the freez for me. I can also say, hot peppers really do help me when I'm sick. I hope none of you get it because it's really terrible.

My Baby bro in in the ICU with the Flu in San Fran! My Middle Bro flew down this morn to make sure he gets fixed up, my Middle Bro NEVER gets sick, so were hoping he can hang tough and help my little bro out! He says things were really bad when he got there, but that they think they have it under control and his temps are dropping, so that's a good sign, at one point, bro was up to 103.4 and they had to ice him down!!!!

Be safe Monkeys, this nasty will put you on your ass! I'm avoiding public and have lots of "stuff" to help! I worry about my folks, but the Wife has things well in hand, so were praying they don't get anything!

Again, thanks for your thoughts and prayers! Just talked with my Middle Brother, they got the temps down to just under 100 deg and lots of fluids in him! I gave a list of questions to ask the Dr's and my Wife has some ideas to pass on if/when needed! Were not outta the woods, but it's looking a lot better!

Yes, should be seriously considered as a preventative measure...:)
And since the flu can strike at any time ....

It is definitely true, regarding alcohol being both a preventative and a cure for flu. I feel as though I have the symptoms coming on, oh, several days per week. Often, 6 or 7.

Actually now that you mention it I have barely been sick since not taking the flu shot since 2015.
But I did go to Afghanistan in 2016 and I found that after traveling over seas I am less likely to get sick for a good year.
But I have been back for 2 cold and flu seasons and I have barely gotten stuffy for more than 2 days this season.

UncleMorgan I like peeling bananas and (occasionally) people.

Unfortunately, the flu vaccine they are passing out is only about 20% effective, at best. If you consider the number of people that are actually given the flu by the vaccine, and the intentionally harmful crap they include in vaccines for the purpose of population reduction, no one in their right mind would opt for the needle.

Better just to load up on natural-source Vitamin C and Lysine, and let you immune system do it's job.

Almost everyone in modern civilization is Vitamin C-deprived, though except for a few in the inner cities, not to the point of obvious scurvy. But every little bit makes you more susceptible to opportunistic infection.
