I am curious. I hear a lot of discussion about the right to bear arms and I wonder, what arms do we all think this covers? Is this pistols, rocks and slings, nuclear weapons, etc? What arms does this cover?

All arms. Free men can choose what they want to protect themselves, their families, neighbors and country.

Exactly it was meant to be armed to the same amount that the Government was armed, remember we had just fought a war with England who really screwed up in their domination of the world, they just wanted colonies to tax and exploit.

There are US Appellate Court cases where Knives are covered under the Second Ammendment as Arms... Bows & Arrows, Cross-Bows, Swords, Pikes, Axes, Hatchets, Tomahawks.... Just about every Weapon ever conceived, BEFORE the Second Amendment was written was what the Founders considered COVERED... Certainly Any, and ALL, Handguns, Rifles, and Shotguns are Covered, to some extent... Now there are SOME Taxing, for Possession, that was passed, and ruled Constitutional, for SOME types of Weapons, and SPECIFIC Characteristics of Weapons, that is The Law of the Land... All attemps of 100% Phroabition have been Ruled UnConstitutional... There are MANY More Restrictions on “Bear” than on “Keep” especially on “where and when” Bearing Arms are permitted.. Depending on where one lives and US Appelet Court Precedents, that are in place for that Circuit... The US Supreme Court has yet to consolodate, and Rule on MANY of these discrepencies... So the BEST Thing a Monkey can do, is pick where you want to RESIDE, and Travel...
I choose to live a Constitutional Carry State, and REFUSE to travel to a FEW SPECIFIC States that are Non-2nd Ammendent Friendly States.... Even though, as A Federal FireArms Licensee, I am premitted to Possess, and Transport, ANY Non-NFA FireArm in and thru ANY State or TERRITORY of the United States of America, at ANY TIME...

Any and all! Th ere should be no restrictions or limitations!

  7. I think that C.B.R. type weapons might be a little extreme. Other wise if you can afford it or build it, why not. How many people have died in auto accidents, or swimming pools?

What a great question. I never thought of what it covers. When people say the right to bear arms, I am sure most think of a gun but guns are not the only thing that fits under the definition.
I looked and wiki said this:
That includes most anything. But we know when we discuss the right to bear arms we are mainly talking about guns.

When the 2A was written, swords were still in use among foot AND horse soldiers. (Some say I was there. They lie.)

Yes I agree completely. Ghrit was a Cutlass carrier, not some wimpy assed sword. I also heard he was pretty handy with a shield and a Roman short sword, but that is another story.

It is a very good question and one we seriously need to consider. Why? Because the opposition is going to use this exact argument.

Does Bandit have the right to purchase a tactical nuclear weapon? I would like to do so to ensure the safety of myself and family, especially my cat because he's declawed (long story), from...whatever, probably my own government or perhaps my neighbor's dog, he's a vicious bugger, or in-laws...Oh yes, the in-laws...

The point is, if it is a all-or-nothing then really harmful weapons are going to get into the hands of some serious bad guys. Gangs, Whacko's, racists, anarchists, etc.... Do we want MS-13 waging war on our police? Think what would have happened in Las Vegas if that lunatic had a .50 caliber M2 and a M203? And, don't play the game that those guys can get them now because while they can get a few they cannot purchase them over the counter like a pizza.

I am for the 2nd Amendment but I do not want war on our streets and allowing a complete and unhindered access to all weapon types - well - I just don't know if that is a smart thing... I hear what everyone is saying but...take a breath and a moment and ask yourself if you want supremacists, anarchists, drug Cartels, international gangs, or foreign government sponsored insurrectionists to be able to purchase M134 Miniguns, BGM-71 TOWs, M252 81mm mortars, etc., etc., etc, ...? Or, why stop there, an M1 Abrams, used, of course, in the color of your choice...because that is exactly what you are saying.

I think only explosive dd and machine guns need to be regulated.
When criminals got ahold of these goods back in the 1920s and 30s they caused a lot of trouble. Ass holes like bonnie and clyde pretty much started the militarization of the police, they started using BAR, Thompsons and sawed off concealed A5 shot guns, while robbing and running from the police, then the police got matching fire power.
I just don't see how an m203 shooting chalk filled training rounds, or an m252 with smoke marker shells is more deadly than an 1894 designed 30-30.

If you want the ultimate in arms how about an aircraft carrier! Our founding fathers wanted us to be armed with equallivent arms of a standing army of the day. Don't think I need full auto but a semi auto should be fine. Just my opinion.

The gov outlawed machine guns because someone said they were dangerous. Now they are saying semi-auto’s are dangerous and they will do away with them. Just let another shooting were a bunch of young people are killed and we we will be shooting bean shooters. Nothing short of a major uprising or civil war to get back our constitution will stop this. Just a matter of time as the gov has planted the seed of doubt in our young people. I’m 75 and will not see this but you younger people will because not enough are standing up for their rights now. Buy good guns and stack the ammo by the thousands you are going to need it. Also we need to quit talking about this in these forums, you know who is listening.
