Very sad to see your pup's neck mangled by the neighbor's bull dog. Don't know the details of the attack as to whose property it was where the attack took place. The bull dog owner should be made aware that if a future such hostility occurs on your property, or on public roads, there will be consequences.

My own neighborhood recently went through an episode in which three boxers got out of their yard and attacked a man walking his small dog on a public residential street. The man had to pick up his little dog to keep it from being "eaten" by the pack that had surrounded him. Fortunately, the owner of the boxers came out quickly and defused the situation.

Whenever walking our beagle on some streets not far from those boxers, I carry a stout walking stick, and am armed. I have had random occasions to use the stick to fend off loose dogs, but fortunately never anything more than that.

Scout is a really good dog to let you work on him. He didn't give one growl as you were cleaning the wound. Are you giving him anything like an antibiotic?

Sad to see Scout hurting like that but glad he is up on his feet.

Poor Scout. Wishing him a speedy and full recovery! Do you not have a veterinary physician in the area?

Hurts my heart to see that pup so hurt. We have all seen Scout in videos lively and happy, he is a good dog.

We had a neighbors dog attack our dog years ago. It was awful. His neck was all torn up and he was skiddish of being near the other dogs yard or walk past their driveway. Have you spoke to the owner of the bulldog yet

You know, Do we have a thread about which anti-antibiotics can be crossed over to dog/human safe?

Now would be a good time to research what will safely work vs what won't.

Kerosene will work to clean and disinfect a wound , it works on people , should work on the pup as well. I don't know about this dyed kerosene , maybe get some pure clean kerosene from lowes or the depot. Kerosene does not burn , it's actually has a cool , soothing effect. This I know from experience . Good luck to Scout. I believe he's going to snap back , let us know if you need anything for him Bishop.
