I am fuzzy on this so I have been reading and it appears BTPost and Tully are correct, in that, State should preempt Local laws which sort of makes sense. So, my question is, why would they even do this? I was reading about Chicago guns laws that have been reversed (had banned handguns in the city limits, reversed in 2008 and reaffirmed 2010 as unconstitutional) so...so they have been down this road before so... What are they doing and why? Are they just making a statement? I mean, they have to show up in court, which costs their taxpayers money, to try to defend something that will be easily overturned... I don't get it.

 

Hey Bandit, this dosnt have to have any effect, it only shows the sheeple that their city ( what ever) is attmpting to do something, and maybe get the State to take up the call on this and run with It! Nevermind it currently has no force of law!

If this goes to higher courts, the municipality should not be forced to pay for legal and court costs, those expenses should fall on the person(s) proposing this obscene insult. These laws are an attempt to financially ruin the pro-freedom side. Turn about is fair play.

 

well, I wonder if at least one relation to one of the council members is a lawyer that is going to wind up suing the city. It's like an easy pay day .. or pay off in the form of a winning lawsuit.

 

After researching this a bit more Deerfield it seems modeled their ban after Highland Parks ban (Which has thus far been upheld in State Courts) and Highland Parks legal cost mostly subsidized by various anti gun organizations around the Nation. Basically what we have is the State Courts ruling against the SCOTUS and for the time being getting away with it. The logic seems to be in their minds anyway that they are not banning guns just a very long list of models of guns (Which includes several handguns and shotguns). It will be interesting to see how they enforce this and how they determine who owns what.

In Ill. I do believe, that all guns are registered. All they have to do is look at the list, send a threatening letter and then at 2am some Sunday morning kick in your door. America left Illinois a long long time ago. As for being United, we haven't been this divided since 1860. The $1000 dollar per day is to legally steal your home and they won't come after you directly, someone will rat you out they will catch you in town arrest or put you on a safety hold 72 hours, Then search your home take your guns formerly charge you and access the fine you loose your home if the number of days since the law took effect is more than it's value. I don't hate to say this but by what I saw none of you have thought this through, understand the police state or the really simple fact that the above video explains in great detail that, you don't own anything your money is paper, worth less than the paper it's printed on. The last and more important thing is --- well it happened in 1934 and all of us have been lied to had and the hammer is about to fall. None of you own your home your vehicle or anything else if you did you would not have to register them every year or pay taxes on them. the law you think your under is in fact Admiralty law. your a owned hunk of property no more no less you can be conscripted to fight in a war or the draft and the age is up to those making the laws.
