Note the AVMapVI on the Dash... GPS/APRS System

    img_0197_2.

TS-480HX T/R Unit & TM-D710a Trig/R Unit mounted under the back Seat... also note the Browning HIPower in it's Shoulder Rig resides under there as well....

Picture of what it looks like, when on the Road, and Seat folded down over the
    T/R Units...

I will add a Picture of the HF & CB Antennas once they are Mounted, hopefully next Wed... The Vhf/Uhf Antenna is on the MagMount in the center of the back of the Truck Cab, and just in front of the New Canopy....

There, now you can see the Antenna, just to the right of the Phone Pole....

Hm. No antenna hooked into the transceiver yet---
The rest of the lashup doesn't look at all bad. The seat looks more like a "briefcase" to me.

The Antenna is hidden in the Tree behind the Truck... and it is Black....

That is where we put the Cooler & Road Snacks, and important stuff when traveling... The weapons go under the Folding Platform, all that stuff sits on... That satisfies the Federal Interstate Statute for transporting FireArms across ALL State Lines, as the weapons, are not "readily assessable to persons in the Truck Cab...

All kidding aside it's a nice set up and clean install.

I'm really wanting to see it after both the 2M and hf antennas are installed. How and where they go on the vehicle is going to tell me a lot about what I'm will need to do when I put the 480 in the pickup.

Yea, AlaskaChick’s Stainless Dan Wesson. with the 6” Barrel mounted, lives in a case on the other side of the Back Seat, under the Platform where the Cooler sits... Just. a NOTE here: The reason the TS-480HX is installed, is my TS-480Sat is. still waiting for the Kenwood Tech, to finish the ReFerb.... and when finished will be sent back to my Daughter’s Place in Austin, TX, and then switched with the TS-480HX, because it has the AutoTuner in it, where the HX doesn’t, but has a second 100Watt Final Amp, for a total of 200 Watts Output... The HX mostly lives at the Alaska Cabin as a Backup Base Station Radio, where it feeds a Manual Tuner...

This is our FlatLand Ride, that lives at the In-Laws place near the Seattle Airport... Costs us $8.00US for an Uber Ride from the Airport to the Truck... then Connect the Battery, and Off we go... Except this time we had an Extended Warrantee Recall issue to get fixed, at the dealership, but the Dufus Service MGR orderied the wrong Parts, when we took it in this morning, so they are OVERNIGHT Expressing the correct Parts in tonite, and hopefully get on the Road, by Noon, tomorrow, on our month long FlatLand Road Trip... We will see...

Man, I am glad you clarified that. I thought I had lost my mind, or gone blind, or both. I was lookin' all over the place for those antennas.

About three months ago they passed a county ordinance here that says you can't have anything in your hands while driving, with the exception of the steering wheel. It is an anti-texting-while-driving law.

Unfortunately they also got HAM radio operators - no talking into a mic while driving..as if HAM radio needed another nail in its coffin. But then most operators are fairly conservative people. It was probably meant to be a slap in the face, knowing those who are in control in this leftist town.

Exceptions made for cops, fire and other emergency vehicles only.

Right now they both are in the Bed, under the Canopy, along with the Ball Mounts, that will support them... The CB Antenna is a “Super Trucker KW Special”... It goes on the Drivers Side... The HF Antenna is a Multi Taped, Potted, Base Loaded Coil with 14 Ft Whip, that can be Resonate anywhere from 3.5 Mhz to 54 MHz, that a Ham Dude is hawking on FleaBay and Amazon... I learned about it from an Old Friend who works at the FCC ENGINEERING Lab... He swears by it, so I figured I could afford to try it out for $170US, and see just how well it works... Using it with the TS-480HX will be a bit of a Challenge, as it doesn’t have the Internal AutoTuner, so I will have to select the Resonate Tap, closest to the frequency I want to use and then just use it there untill the next Rest, or Gas Stop... Once i swap in the TS-480SAT, that does have the AutoTuner, i should be able to just set the tap to the Lowest frequency, and AutoTune everything else from there on up... We will see just how good the Kenwood Binary Step AutoTuner’s range really is...

There's been some recent discussions about that. Most states have an exemption built in for (licensed) radio (operators) as opposed to cell phones.

Tuner is somewhat limited...maybe 5.5:1 or better...beyond that, it's hit or miss. At least mine acts this way. Ymmv:)

They don't use salt or brine up there ? Same as WA , here it is awful , 1 year & it looks like a back east car , the brine eats the cars away .

What about Taxis, School Buses, Water & Power Folks, Railroad Maintainance Trucks, many Federal Agencies, Truckers with CB Radios.... Those are only a few of the Users that likely would be on their case for such a STUPID STATUTE...

I checked - School buses are exempted.

Well - wait a second. The law may have been changed in the proposal from its original. The law as originally proposed left no exemption for two-way radios. There are a few HAM clubs in town. They probably spoke up.

    10.34.020 Prohibited conduct.
A person may not, while driving a motor vehicle on a highway, manually manipulate a handheld electronic device for any purpose other than to initiate, receive, or engage in voice communication. For purposes of this section, drive and motor vehicle have the same meaning as those terms are given in
Arizona Revised Statutes Title 28, Chapter 1.

So it looks as though it allows for even talking on a cell phone.

This is the “Super Kw CB Antenna” on the Drivers side....

This is the 3.5 - 30 Mhz HF Antenna, on the Passenger Side...

I have used Red LokTite on half of the Antenna Stubs, so unscrewing the Antennas for storage is easy... Also on the 3.5 - 30 Mhz Antenna, I put a Nylon String from the Tip, and tied it back to just about two feet above the Canopy Back Window, for traveling... It still loads up Ok, but it cuts down on the Low Bridge Clearance issue...
