Nice day to plink a little.

The Savage FV-SR .22 rifle, quite a bargain for the price, plenty of accuracy. I am using a Bushnell 4x scope, not going for world record statistics, just a reliable, accurate little stealthy tree rat assassin. I modified the stock by cutting off about 1/4" across the top of the fore rail and added a padded chin rest. I bedded the rifle as well, and it sits tightly in the stock now. Will paint it properly this summer, only the stock.

Here's the target for the new barreled .223 AR at 50 yds using a red dot Aimpoint.

Might have lost it in the train accident.

We've run a lot of ammo through the same. found that ours really likes the 37 grain copper plated hollow point Winchester SuperX.

Another thing, I am getting more into pellet rifles lately for critter control. The ammo is cheap enough, and there's a wide variety, too. I especially like the Gamo Red Fire ballistic tip expanding pellets. Here's the Crossman F4 break-open rifle. The light is for night time operations.

My Gamo is minute of squirrel and has taken a mouse at 50 feet. (Luck, methinks.) Good fun, good practice off the deck with plain ol' lead out of the can pellets..

Tried to purchase one of those savage bolt action .22s a few years ago. The FFL I went through didn't have a whole lot of luck trying to locate one.

I've had a .22 pellet RWS/Diana rifle for about 15 years. Used to use it for ground squirrels - very effective.
Little bastards would live just long enough to run down their holes leaving a blood tail, and never return. Didn't even have to pick up the carcasses.

We have a pair of the MK-II heavies with the 20 in barrels, and had them threaded for cans, they are by far our favorites for just plinking or busting close range squeaky rats and burrow pigs! Out to about 200 yards, dead on accurate and the only thing you hear is the fireing pin strike!

I'm going to wait for the paint to cure before attaching the padded cheek rest, but looks decent enough, I'd say.

Now you gotta do the scope to match. Stands out like a sore thumb on that mat.

I like that they put an over sided bolt handle on it. It looks good. Ya know Savage is really making some nice stuff, and a guy could do a lot worse than an AccuTrigger esp right outta the box.

Hit the range again today, this rifle is a lot of fun. Here's the target from 50 yards, 25 rounds as fast as I could reload and pop them off with the bolt action. Adjusted the scope slightly after first 4 went low using Winchester HP this time.
