Snake chaps help for those that judge as far as killing anything if it is near your home you better or move it way off but, if it hurt someone you would never know. All animals have a range if a poisonous insect or creature takes up residence at or near your home and you do not act, you can and probably will be infested if you like the hospital pain and some loss of tissue and a huge bill let nature take it's course.

Thank goodness we don't have a snake problem here.

    Bears, on the other hand....

Every rural place or wilderness area has its own issue set. Issues, that if one is not aware and prepared, can be lethal.

Glad to hear the snake was a distraction...and not more.

Cats brought up a new hatched snake, they saved me the trouble.
This time of year the snakes are looking for the warmth of the concrete pad for the slab is insulated from the ground and late at night they seek warmth, another reason the door is all glass. Gives you time to have a snake killer on hand that will not ricochet on the concrete. Heavy staff is preferable, stuff like this that the GREENIE group do not have a clue about and why we might kill a snake.
On top of that a Mommy cat has a 8 day old litter that is on the ground near by and I'll guarantee those guys will kill more mice than one lone snake.

I hate snakes. My first action is scream then immediately want to kill. TN Andy is correct about wood piles. I always wore tall boot and gloves when working in wood piles.

Yea, rattle snake season just got going down here, havnt had any in the yard yet, but I'm sure we well have many. I squashed 3 two nights ago out on the road, didn' even see them until right on top of them. One was a pretty good 5 footer, the others were prolly 3 at most! Both doggies are rattler trained as puppies, and both do a very good job of warning of snakes. Still, I have to pre run the yard before lettin them out! Don't wanna snake bit dog! Going to have to revisit Bishops videos on quiet weapons, I'm going to be collecting rattles and doing up some BBQ! Lol

Don't care to let venomous snakes in my A.O. live, though I can co-exist with non-venomous, non-constrictors. Sure as shootin' the venomous viper (or its offspring) that I show mercy to will be the one to get me, my family, or my pets at a later date.

I have never been satisfied with any way I have tried cooking snake. Not for lack of trying. I for one would definitely appreciate some detail info on the subject. At this point I am considering simmering snake in seasoned water with a bit of apple cider vinegar until fall off the bone, and picking bones out and saucing the drained meat with a tangy and sweet bbq sauce for sandwiches..... ? just an idea.

Sounds good to me, I always like a beer and salt brine for 1/2 hour, dri rub with some light spices, then baste on the BBQ with a nice tangy smokey sauce, low and slow to caramelize the bark! Yummy, and makes a great Sammich out of the left overs!
Another way I do it, pan fri with a pat of butter and some flower and an egg, just Browning it, then slow roast ether in the oven, or over a flame! You can add a few strips of bacon, some diced yellow onion, and a spoon full of crushed garlic, and let it cook slow in a oven pan to really make it happen!!! Ura-ki gonna do up some rattlin snek dinner now! To bad we don't have those big fat timber rattlin sneks down here, those are the best! These Desert diamondback varietals will have to do! Lol
