Wasn't sure if this was the right place. But it is a review.

Don't know about you guys, but I usually carry coffee with me when I am out and about in the woods. And while I grind beans and French press at home, single serve instant coffee is easy when out. The brand I have been using for the past several years is Mount Hagen.

I like that it is organic. And I especially like that it tastes good. We have both regular and decaf at home. The decaf is tasty too.

So what prompted this unusual review? I ran out of Kauai coffee beans, so resorted to instant this morning. And since I still have vanilla beans from buddy Bear, I put some in the instant. Just to see. Or taste rather. It was good!

I think it's still hard to beat Folgers.

I remember trying Folgers before and liking Mount Hagen better. But it's been a while and just my personal opinion.

Thanks Hanzo, I've been looking for single pack and all I can find in the Peoples Republic of Ann Arbor is those Kureg cups things. I'll give Hagen a try

I used to have Folger's single serving packets. The local store would have sales and with a coupon, they ended up being real cheap. Currently I own a large jar of instant Nescafe. I drank all my singles. I now store tea because it is smaller, lighter and can be used medicinally.

I am of the school that any coffee is good coffee as long as it is not decaf .......... My personal favorite at the moment is the Members Mark Roasted Columbian from Sams Club. Harsh, has a strong bite to it and doubles at paint stripper if a teaspoon too much is used in the brew. That really is how I like my coffee :) And it is CHEAP...... just added 30 cans of it to my must have food and beverage reserves. Folgers just never did much for me and can never seem to fit enough into to the filter to make a strong stout pot of coffee :(

I'm not a big coffee drinker but we get one here that's actually ground coffee that's brewed like you would do tea. Like in a teabag. & you can adjust the strength by letting it brew shorter/longer.
DH (Picky Coffee drinker) really likes the Colombian Pure, I like the hazelnut cause I usually use it to make mocha's :)

Strong and cheap is great. Does it taste good too? May have to try.

It actually is pretty tasty if you like a strong brew. My wife uses half of what I do when she makes a pot and say it is not too disagreeable at that level. But she likes slightly tinted water as coffee :)

I use Maxwell House during the week and Folgers French Vanilla on the weekends. I use an old Sunbeam percolator that was made 3 years before I was born. Makes GREAT coffee.

+1 for cheap instant, double strength. Used to get some instant out of Peru looked like it came in a half oil can w/ a tin lid, fantastic coffee can't find it any more.

I use Kirkland Supremo in a reusable K-cup at home. It has a very good flavor, high caffeine content and is low acid, In the field I'm happy with freeze dried anything that has caffeine in it. Everything tastes better outdoors anyway.

When it gets to the category of instant coffee, I used to drink the Nescafe' Classico (made in Mexico) while at work---found fairly easily in Texas. It was reasonably priced, and had a good flavor with a reliable caffeine boost. Since retirement, my instant coffee consumption is less frequent because I have the time to brew the good stuff through a Keurig, using a reusable K-cup adapter, and my own grind of beans to suit the whim of the moment.

These days, when I don't feel like taking the extra steps to brew a cup, I drink a brand of instant called Café Buen' Dia! (from Columbia) and made by the Juan Valdez Co. Yeah, the same name as the guy in those old TV ads with the burro who climbed the mountains to pick the best beans. I buy it at Wal-Mart for 5 to 6 bucks per 3.5oz. jar, which is a bit pricier than other brands, but since I don't drink instant that often, the extra cost is worth it to capture a near fresh-brewed taste.

I’m ruined. I’ve been roasting my own beans for about 6 years. I can’t really drink anything else, and I go to great lengths to make sure I always have enough on hand. I’m pretty sure I’d die if I had to drink anything else. I’m delicate that way.
