The Gerber Saw is a superb item to add to any kit. The blade is made by Fiskars of Finland. You can tell by the picture it has some awesome teeth. This particular saw has zipped through 4 inch limbs and saplings at a high rate of sawdust. Just a little clean-up afterwards and it looks near new. I sent one of these to Scotland to my Ghillie friend. He has tested it under his extremes and loves it. What I like about it is that the blade slides in and out of the handle instead of folding. Just apply proper tension with the adjusting knob and it stays nicely in place, unlike some folders which I have seen collapse. I've got one of those that folds but haven't any troubles with it, guess I'm lucky. I'll agree they make a great tool in the field and I don't go camping or hunting w/o it. However, I must ask where did you get one that comes with 1911 mags? Mine came with a case and another blade.
I'll have to dig mine out, I got one, maybe at Lowe's that uses reciprocating saw blades, so they are replaceable.
We use those at work opening sheetrock to investigate for wiring, plumbing and what not, then it's the ole' Sawzall after that. Never thought of using it in the field they would work well.

I love my Gerber saw. It also works fairly well on sawing thru deer bones. Leg and chest cavities. The only issue I've had with it on that was that it did tend to get a tad gummed up so you have to stop and clean the teeth but other than that it works wonders. Take care Be safe Poacher.
