Challenge coin - Wikipedia A challenge coin is a small coin or medallion, bearing an organization’s insignia or emblem and carried by the organization’s members. Traditionally, they are given to prove membership when challenged and to enhance morale. In addition, they are also collected by service members. In practice, challenge coins are normally presented by unit commanders in recognition of special achievement by a member of the unit. They are also exchanged in recognition of visits to an organization.
It more of a morale thing plus the higher the coin the less you have to buy drinks .i have the president trump coin and the warrior monk coin
Having your unit challenge coin on you can often save you from buying a round at the Officers' Club. You hear somebody make a challenge, and everyone present from the unit pulls out their challenge coin and sets it on the bar. As fewer and fewer remain who haven't produced their coin, all eyes lock on them. I always liked to search all my pockets, and give worried glances at the others, but I always had my coin. First one found without a coin would buy the round... but if everybody produced their coin, the initial challenger bought the round. I'd like a Black and Tan please. ;-)
