So ya say ya want a BIG dog for your family? Old World Mastinos, Neapolitan Mastiffs, Neapolitan Mastiff puppies Pedigree Dogs Exposed - The Blog: The American Molossus AMERICAN MOLOSSUS Dogs
Neighbor once had a Mastiff. Sweetest and most human dog I ever encountered. Sadly, they don't live very long, his made 8 years.
Having a good dog can be painful! I've had and lost my share... kinda not real sure I want another dog but kinda do... so...
And here I thought my Newfoundland dog was a big boy, he was "Only" 87 pounds at 10 months, the same weight of my Senior citizen Golden Retriever ! He is currently a Fat boy right now at 230 pounds! Also one of the sweetest and most gentle dogs I have ever had, and he LOVES the little kids! He is also one of the best security dogs ever, he very rarely barks, is super ninja quiet and light footed, and in the dark, you never see him! Nothing gets past him!
We rescued a dog from the humane society. He was about 70lbs at that time. Long haired, mostly black. He kept trying to back up and sit on people's laps. Very affectionate. We took him for his last haircut, 120lbs before, 100lbs after. We think he had some newfie in him. He died of cancer of the spleen. Especially now that both my wife and daughter are gone I really miss him
Retrievers are AWESOME! one of the all time best breed groups for pretty much every thing, in fact there isn't much a Retriever cannot do, and do very well! And, Retrievers and Kids were made for each other! The whole world would be a much better place if every kid had a dog to grow up with!
When my fiancée and her daughter moved in (Angie was 11) I told them every dog (meaning my G.S. pup ) needed a kid to play with.
I am good with my guardian angel Izzapoo 1/2 Pit 1/4 Border Collie 1/4 Lab Smart, loyal and will protect to the death. She grew up to be 70 pounds of the best dog I have ever seen.
I got a gold lab crazy as bat crap he is only 60 + pounds found him in the driveway he was maybe 4 weeks old he had parvo I nursed him through force feeding him gatoraid for 3 days he perked up and he is about 9 still dumb as a rock his tail is a blackjack and he thinks he can talk hates anyone in his yard I have to escort people kills anything cats rabbits squirrels almost got the UPS dude the fence wire is all bent from him biting it and jerking on it but it makes him so happy I can control him but I have to be with him its strange but he will sit and stay and not bark or growl I just have to stay with him.for me hes just a big baby.and perfect I had a Blue healer one powerful and loyal dog he went to the big ranch in the sky I miss all my buddies but I would get another if this one passes it's not that I am not sentimental but everything that breath dies we love and it ends I would rather it didn't I don't get to make those calls but I do love them and care for them to where they are almost spoiled well a little
My Lola is about 145 Lbs now. Our prior Great Dane, Ranger was 203 lbs when he passed. He was the best dog in the world, Lola is a strong second in our hearts!!!
He can rest his head on the dining room table with out stretching! Yup, hair in the food is a given! Lol.
My son has a big ol Newfie - you could knit another dog out of what gets shed. They do the mut down to the clipper place for the summer. Love that guy, friendly and of course watches the girls like a hawk....
I too have ha a lot of dogs in my lifetime all but one were rescue animals. Malamute was a great dog ,loved play and knew his limits , the most extraordinary thing about him was his wolf song I miss so much, and the play we enjoyed, brings tears . Most trainable dog was a Aussie I got as a pup and trained her for S&R as a tracker . what a nose and loved learning new skills . she will truly be missed . I love big dogs but I never had the opportunity to have a mastiff or dog's on that scale , a surprisingly gentle behavior . Probably the only reason I didn't pursue the breed was the ones I knew all had health issues and I didn't have the income to afford that kind of attention. most of mine being mixed breed lived in their teens even my little guy has out lived all his siblings by several years now. Yep that's how he sleeps. A fierce guard dog , in his dreams.
